Socioeconomic Development of District Kech, Balochistan

Kech is a district of Makran Division located in Southern Balochistan. Apart from Kech, Gwadar and Panjgur districts are also a part of Makran division. The district is administratively sub-divided into Tehsils of Buleda, Zamran, Turbat, Dasht, Tump, Mand and Malik Abad. Turbat is the district headquarter of Kech District which is believed to be the second largest city of Balochistan after Quetta and also bordering Iran towards the west. The area remained highly underdeveloped, but recently, the civil government in collaboration with Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) and Army, have initiated development projects in Southern Balochistan.

During his visit to Turbat on November 14, 2021, the Prime Minister announced Southern Balochistan Package, which aims to create employment opportunities, highways, dams, electricity and other development infrastructure for the region. The federal government has planned to spend more than 3.5 billion dollars on the development project for nine districts in Southern Balochistan during the next three years, to improve the living standards of the locals.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), in its meeting on January 28, 2022 approved the reconstruction of 115 kilometeres long Turbat-Mand road from M-8 till Iranian border-Radeeq at a total rationalized cost of Rs. 10.461 billion. The project was expected to be completed in two years by the
communication department Balochistan (as a part of Southern Balochistan package). Gish Kaur storage dam, Sammi Kallag, district Kech project was approved at the cost of Rs. 11.798 billion. The dam has a storage capacity of 0.045 million acre feet (MAF), with the capacity to irrigate 13,800 acres of surrounding area. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.

Roads are the arteries through which the economy pulses. By linking producers to markets, workers to jobs, students to school, and the sick to hospitals, roads are vital for any development agenda. Roads make a crucial contribution to economic development and growth, and bring important social benefits. They are of vital importance in order to make a nation grow and develop. In addition, providing access to employment, social, health and educational services makes a road network crucial in the fight against poverty. Roads open up more areas and stimulate economic and social development. For those reasons, road infrastructure is the most important factor for the uplift of Balochistan.

The most important and a dire demand of locals, the Turbat-Buleda road is near completion. Work started on the project in mountainous terrain and in harsh weather conditions. This provides the shortest route between Turbat and Buleda which further connects to Abdoi (Pak-Iran border). Gwadar-Hoshab section, of M-8 is already functional and passes through Turbat. Hoshab is the junction point of M-8 and N-85. Work on Hoshab-Khuzdar section of M-8 commenced under federal PSDP. Central Development working Party (CDWP), approved Rs. 2.995 billion for the construction of 60 km road from Buleda to Proom in May 2021, which is vital for the connectivity of border areas of Buleda (District Kech) to Proom (District Panjgur).

Southern Districts of Balochistan are still not connected to the national grid. Provision of electricity to District Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur and Taftan city is continuing from Iran, while Awaran and Washuk Districts are being provided electricity through generators. Connection of Southern Balochistan with the national grid was approved in 2018 and presently, the project is under tendering process, which is likely to be completed in two years.

The literacy rate of Turbat and District Kech is high, compared to other areas of Balochistan. The people of Kech used to travel to Karachi and Quetta to pursue their studies but, recently the civil government in collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies established Turbat University and Makran Medical College which facilitates students of the entire Makran Division. Law College and Balochistan Residential College (BRC) are already functional in Turbat, providing quality education and contributing to the uplift of the area. Recently, the first female cadet college of Balochistan was inaugurated at Turbat which was completed through the efforts of Pakistan Army Engineers and Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) troops. This cadet college is the first female cadet college of Balochistan which was financially supported by the United Arab Emirates.

Fake generated by always governerned by punjabis federal govt
You idiot 🤣 🤣

Punjabi Federal government like Sindh more that's why they "gave" em higher per Capita but doesn't like Balochistan that's why it "gave" less per Capita, braah at this point I highly doubt you even passed primary school with the amount of nonsense you're spouting

Also go check per Capita budget allocation too- Balochistan gets 2 times more per Capita than Punjab despite not adding as much to Treasury - I am not complaining though, they're our pakistani brothers they should get even more but just checking the blatant lies and deception
