Funny you just reminded me of the many times my clients or new friends in the past 30+ years here would say that to me, they usually follow it up with "is it ok to say Merry Christmas" to a Muslim?" I smile and say "sure, why not, it doesn't hurt me or offend me whatsoever, and the fact that your are courteous enough to ask if it's ok, makes it even nicer.
