Turkish Aerospace Industries to upgrade 42 F-16 jets

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has agreed to upgrade 42 Pakistani F-16 fighter jets.
Negotiations will be done later this year and then the contract for upgrading the F-16 fighter jets will be awarded to the Turkish company.
Such upgrade will boost the Pakistan Air Force F-16’s capability close the newer models of the F-16 Block 50 standard.
Four of the 46 Pakistani F-16s are already in the United States for the MLU upgrade, which means that all 46 F-16 Block 15 aircrafts will be upgraded over time.
The upgrading of the 42 F-16s is set to begin in 2009 at TAI facilities near Ankara, Turkey.
In the competition of the deal. TAI was competing against a Dutch company Fokker and a Belgian company, Sabca.
Two of the 42 F-16s to be upgraded at the TAI facility will go for a test verification installation at a Lockheed Martin facility in the United States.
Pakistan issued the upgrading tender after an agreement was signed between Pakistan and United States in September 2007 clearing the transfer of avionics and structural upgrade components.

they are not foul. 32 j-10(4.5 gen), 50 + f16 (4.5 gen) with less spending. 250 jf 17(4.0 gen currently may upgrade to 4.5 gen after 3 year). what do you want from PAF?. every body in this earth know if some technology have its mean pakistan have and if some technology pakistan have means china have. jf 17 we know when we hear that russia stop their engine. now china have her now engine mean pakistan have her own engine. plane or plan ?????????? lol
su MKI30 is 4.5 gen less ness f16 50/52 block and j10b. jf 17 is light combat and su mki 30 is medium combat fighter. do not compare different class fighter with other one. they r build for different purpose.

Half the people in here are living in a dream world.. If for me we should scrap both the air force and navy.. they serve little to no purpose.. With outdated planes taking up more than half our weapons budget just so we can be known as an Armed force, rather we are just a rag tag bunch of poorly trained and ill equipped group of armed gunmen… We need to start from the beginning .. self reliance is the way to go .. the jf17 is our answer if we can manage to produce that..Comparing a JF17 to an F16 is like comparing a auto rickshaw to a BMW.. while some of you would hail an auto rickshaw .. so would I .. that’s what we can afford .. but please lets be more honest with ourselves that is how we can succeed.. Not by saying that we can make a Blackbird with 2 F16’s.. We need to stop looking at buying deterrent because India wants to take over.. No one in their right minds would want to do that.. Our military is more poorly equipped than a Taliban fighter .. You can ask the Taliban that are running the country up north if you don’t believe me.. PA is just well trained guerrilla outfit.. We did somewhat better in the kargil conflict in small numbers and surprise than we did in 2 open wars.. Invest in some education for our people not fighter planes that serve the same purpose as a lineup of stuffed toys for us..
This is a shameful comment, all this is part of education in advance technology. Credit should be given where its due. Point taken on educating, however, the nations defence is more important than education. Once we are in a confident position and I am sure we are then we will be able to take the next step. Rickshaw is again better then a motorcycle if you take my point. One day we will be in the club of manufacturing not only planes but every thing associated with developed and advanced country.
Full scale production of the Jf-17 will start in about 2years time. Currently the jf-17s are still undergoing flight testing, that is why only a handfull of them have been inducted, however in the long-run PAF wants to induct around 200 jf-17s in it’s inventory, so as to replace the ageing f-7s, a5’s and perhaps the mirages too.
due to limited resources, we have to be precise, keeping in mind of the opportunity cost related to each move.
I doubt that the PAF will let go of the fighting falcon, which has served gracefully in the paf for 20years now. 4th generation or 5th generation, no plane can ever match the f-16 fighting falcon. my guess is that PAF wont retire the f-16s for another 15years. i simply love that plane.
our total f-16 inventory will be 38+14+18=70 birds.
out of these 18 will be block 52 f-16 C/Ds brand new, deliveries will start in 2010.
14 falcons are overhauled and upgraded to block 30 standard, and our old f-16s 38 in number, are all being fitted with latest gadgetry.
Our F-16 squadrons are the best in the world.
We should go expediate our fc 20 program. And also we should buy Grippens instead of f16s. We should deploy fc 20s and Grippens in large numbers.

This is good newsss for uss.Turkish is a great countery with power…oky their is need of upgrading, but pakistan should also concentrate about new ganeration machines…..it is the time for pakistan forcess to be serious ……….. why we are not able to make our own fighter jets? we should not rely on other countries…..

F-16 will be the main fighting plane for PAF. It is the best most successfull American plane according comments by americans. But we have uncertain relations with US.
The Only best Tech Alternatives are French AND Russian Planes rest could be just Fancy Toys and fantasy when it comes real war. ie they may or may not prove themselves.
We shoud also try to procure Russian Mig29 and Su-30PKI as well as Mirage2000-9 Planes

At present we can buy upto 40 J10 and 20 J11.
PAF get these as soon as possible, i cant wait to put my hands over them.

its indeed a good sign in order to enchance the confidence of brotherly muslim country and to enhance further cooperation.pakistan must be looking forward to acquire that overhauling facility as F-16 is the only high tech aircraft of our air fleet.

1. First of all, we should spend money & time for the preparation of MISSILE whose range must be not less than 50,000.00 KM.
2. In future, we have to fight against AMERICA.
3. We should help other Islamic Countries in making Missiles and Other Arms, so that Pressure must be released from Pakistan.

your country is already able to make your own fighters, but latest technology is also important, these upgradation means make the fleets equivalent to F-16 block 52+, so i dont think so pakistan has this technology yet …
but the much important then this upgradation is development of higher blocks of JF-17 with latest avionics and radar system.
we afghans are proud to be friends of a great nation like pakistan, but unfortunately our bulshit politicians always sold us to bloody non-sence hindus, and used our soil to be anti-pakistan.

Whether the money is spent on upgrading the F16s or buying any new gen fighters, it is a lot of money that is being spent on defence, and what for. To sustain conflict with India.
Pakistan’s govt, armed forces and the public in general certainly have their prioroties wrong. What benefit is all this spending, conflict and loss of life bringing ? I mean really as a nation what do we really want ? Helathy, educated and prospreous people right ? Who are safe from external and internal threats.
Is carryiong on with India in the way we are really achieving these goals ? I would like to see more effort, time and money being spent on ending the conflicts, not worsening them.
The gernral poulation in India want the same goals that we want in Pakistan, and everyone in the region could benefit from reconcilliation adn compromise. We should not see it as a fefeat but a step towards our own long term objectives.
People in Europe realised this 50 years ago after the second world war. Germany and UK killed millions of each others people and hated each other. But now they are very friendly countries and they ahve put aside their hatred so that peace harmony and properity can be achieved for their people. abig effort has been made to heal the wounds both physical and mental.
We all need to step back and think about what we really want for our children adn our beloved country. Much of the population is not educated and does not have clean drinking water !! it is 2009 !!
Some people talk about upgrading our planes ourselves and building aircraft in Pakistan. Lets build some good cars and motorbikes first, then maybe we can build some planes one day too.
Lets save children who die from very easily curable illnesses first. All this money could help lots of poor and sick people. So much injustice in the country, so much cruelty for most people.
Let India have some land if they want. Out victory is not in some acres of land, but our future. Our fight is not with them, but with ignorance, disease and poverty.
Even our prophet left Makkah and went to Medina instead of fighting because it was the better thing to do for the long term well being og his people and it was better for the cause of Islam.

Yes brother, Even F-16 Block 25 can carry AIM-120 and AIM-7 BVR missiles.
