US military night raids into homes of Afghans

Afghanistan and US 'close to night raid deal' - Central & South Asia - Al Jazeera English

NATO footage of one such raid, which was filmed in the Sarobi district east of Kabul, shows family members looking shocked and frightened as their home is searched by soldiers and a man is questioned.

No charges were brought as a result of the raid and the family were entirely innocent.

It is important to differentiate between politics and ground realities of the war.

Actually no tactic works in Afghanistan.

Soviet military used to halt most of its military operations during nights. The nights provided relief to mujahideen.

In contrast, US military conducts military operations even during night times. However, still the issue remains.

You hear daily attacks on fellow Nato Troops in Afganistan. These raids will put pressure on Terrorist and those who harbor them.

I don't care how many "HVTs" these night raids produce, more come back in their place. It's a failed policy in all but a few cases. Check out "Free Range International" for some clarity on these.
