Vietnam People's Air Force operates 4 Su-30MK2s as of January 2010. Vietnam reportedly signed a contract was for 12 more Su-30MK2s in 2009,[41] but the contract was reduced to 8 fighters. On 20 July 2010, it was announced at Farnborough International Airshow that a contract for 20 Su-30MK2s had been signed with Vietnam.

Su-30M2
A Su-30 version from manufacturer KnAAPO based on the Su-30MK with canards and optional thrust-vectoring. The Russian Air Force placed an initial order for the variant in 2009. Factory tests were completed in September 2010.

Su-30MKK with upgraded electronics that enabled support for antiship missiles. Upgraded radar called N001VEP. Also intended to work with SAPSAN-E and Kupol M400 reconnaissance pods. Delivered MKKs is expected to be upgraded to this standard.

It's not MKI it's Su-30 MK2 with a downgraded radar. There is a big difference between those two versions.

According to colonel Phuong, 11 years ago, he was trained in both in KMI and KM2 version in Russsia, and he felt that Su-30 MK2 is more suitable for Vn air force
