In some cases Jamaats doing better than Awami league. Even the elections that happened few months was dominated by BNP. In that election, many of the awami league contestants tried to cheat their way through and still lost the election.

In a post-poll violence in Rajbari, a 20-year-old HSC examinee, who was a supporter of a defeated chairman candidate, was shot dead Sunday morning by the supporters of the victorious candidate.

Our correspondent identified the Chandpur victim as Abu Yusuf alias Mona, 28, son of one Matin Baidya of Nayergaon Dakshin UP in Matlab Dakshin Upazila.

Meanwhile, the other victim has been identified as Mohabbat Ali Sarder, 60, a resident of Notun Char Doulatkhan village in the Kalkini Upazila of Madaripur.

However, the election in Char Doulatkhan, along with 13 other UPs of Kalkini Upazila, began at 8:00am.

Meanwhile, at least 50 people, including Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajoir Police Station, were injured in a clash between villagers of two unions, Rajoir Sadar and Badarpasha, at Rajoir upazila in the district.

The clash started at about 12:00pm and continued till filing of this report at about 3:00pm.

MA Mannan, assistant superintendent of police of Rajbari, told The Daily Star that the supporters of winner Abul Kashem Sarowar of Babupara UP elections shot at the supporters of defeated Iman Sarder between 6:00am and 7:00am, leaving three people injured.

Momin succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, the police officer told our correspondent in Faridpur.

Of the injured -- Aynal, son of Iman Sarder, was admitted to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex, while Abu Hasnat Raju, a nephew of Iman Sarder, was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

A group of people led by Sahidul Mia, Bhantu and Ismail fired gunshots at Hazrapara village at around 7:00am, leaving the three injured, Raju told The Daily Star.

The same group Saturday night also ransacked the houses of Iman Sarder’s supporters after the results were announced, Raju claimed.
