    Sohel Taj still getting salary!

    Senior Correspondent
    banglanews24.com

DHAKA: Former State Minister for Home Affairs Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj alleged that his salary and allowance have been being sent to his bank account still after he had resigned 33 months earlier.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker had sent two separate letters to the cabinet secretary division in this regard on April 16 and 17 respectively.

A reliable source said personal assistance of Sohel Taj submitted the letters to the cabinet division Tuesday.

Source added that, in his letter, expressing surprise and rage, Sohel Taj asked that why his resignation letter was not accepted and salary is being sent to his bank account.

In his letter on April 16, he said, “I had resigned from my post on May 31 in 2009 and after that I never signed anywhere as state minister”

But, the cabinet sending my salary and allowance to my bank account still now from August 2009, it is unexpected and unacceptable, he said.

In another letter Sohel Taj said, “The cabinet has tarnished the image of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and mine by not issuing gazette notification.”

On May 31 in 2009, Sohel Taj stepped down as state minister for home affairs about five months into his appointment so that his dignity and principles could survive intact.

Sohel Taj, son of country’s first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed and the youngest member of the cabinet, tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office on June 1.

Allude to Sohel Taj is now residing at Maryland of USA.

    Sohel Taj resigns as MP

    Mon, Apr 23rd, 2012 11:49 am BdST

Dhaka Apr 23 (bdnews24.com)— Tanjim Ahmed, also known as Sohel Taj, handed in his resignation as an MP to the Speaker's office on Monday nearly three years after he had "resigned" as a junior minister, a personal aide said.

Assistant Personal Secretary Abu Kawser told bdnews24.com Monday morning that he handed in the letter on behalf of the son of Bangladesh's Liberation War-time prime minister, Tajuddin Ahmed.

The MP for Gazipur-4 has recently written to the Cabinet Division asking it to take back his salary and other allowances as a state minister debited into his bank despite his resignation in 2009.

The Cabinet Division says it has no record of his resignation and therefore continues to disburse his pay and perks.

He has often been offered ministerial protocol, which he refused leading to reports in the media.

The government has never clarified its position on Sohel Taj.

Kawser said the Speaker's private secretary Mohammad Shamim received the letter.

The former state minister for home showed no reasons for resigning from parliament.
