If US is guarding that border, what might become of the Cow trade ?
several thousand Indian cows are traded on the Bangladesh border .... and Americans have a good taste for beef !

They only eat USDA's FSIS approved beef. They are not after cheap smuggled beef like the Bangladeshis, they can certainly afford Australian T-bones and I can assure you they have a great taste in pork chops and ribs too, bet it will be a pork-fest in Bangladesh and don't forget the gallons of liquor that would go with it.

Well... I dont know if I should comment or not...but still I would like to say something.. Plzz donot trust US as a friend.. Whatever US does, or says, has an ulterior motive.... Even if they help you, they will make u pay very very hard for the help they once gave you.. You should learn some lessons form Pakistan.. US has been saying Pak is a strategic ally, and look what they have done with Pak.. Their friendship is worse than their enemity...Once they become your friends, they keep asking "do more"their do more mantra never stops.. U think, US will help you guard against India....? US is a strtegic ally of India, it will never do this... Also US had been calling Pak, as their strategic ally, yet kills our soldiers and civilians...Pak has been bitten very hard by US, in disguise of friendship...and i would say, never ever let US have Naval presence in Bangladesh.. It will be disaster for Bangladesh...Pak had given bases to US in Musharraf's time, and see what they did to Pak... It would be better if u learn some lessons from Pak US relationship......

Problem with your assessment is that it is based on US-Pak relationship and its issues.

Focus on the examples of US relationships with other Islamic countries which have been successful; Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman and Turkey.

Foreign policy competence and economic independence are two vital ingredients for a successful relationship. Pakistan has lacked in both of these aspects. So why only blame US? Yes, I personally disagree with Obama's attitude towards Pakistan. But then it is important to understand that what put him off so much?

In Pakistan, their is no accountability of political blunders committed by the both military and civilian leaders. Pakistani populace has been kept in dark to such a degree that it has developed a penchant for 'conspiracy theories' to figure out the supposed truth of various matters.

Americans (USA) are not aliens from outerspace who cannot get along with humans of planet earth. Please stop thinking on these lines.

Just because Pak-US relationship has not been successful, this does not suggests that Bangla-US relationship cannot be successful too.

Majority of the Bangladesh's export is in the US. There's an old saying "don't poop where you eat". We need the US in order for our survival and that is the harsh truth. Look what India has done for us: they have infiltrated our markets driving out our local producers but they themselves have put high trade barriers to protect their producers. We don't need this sort of friendship. The only benefit we have got from India is their beef, which too they are unwilling to share.

Can anyone please tell me how by having a base at Chittagong can the US counter growing Chinese presence in the South China sea.The US offering to "gaurd" the border with India is a ridiculous assessment(as if the US has no other priorities) which will for sure make Bangladeshi fan boys here very happy.You guys can masturbate how much ever you want but it is not going to happen.Period.IMHO the base too is a rumor .Even if there were discussions there is no guarantee that the base would come up.During the Afghanistan bombing campaign after 9/11 the US even asked India for a temporary base in Rajasthan.India obviously refused.

Not only this, USA has installed also a number of watching equipments on Himalayan tops and in Arunachal Pradesh in order to watch over any Chinese troop movements. Well, my friend even though bitter, that is how it works. Afhgans were helped to achieve the primary objective to get rid of Soviets. Once Soviet was gone the country was left to the Afhgans. Afhgan should had sorted their problem. Its no Americans fault. After the war, Indian soldier left us, didnt we figure out how to run our country?
