@alungphaya We Bangladeshis want brotherly relation with you, there is no hatred among Bangladeshis against Myanmar....

This has been done in the past through armed conflict and 'jihad' which, to an extent, has been supported by hardline Bangladeshi islamists.

do you have any proof of that?? any link??

Bangladeshis are so opposed to letting 1 million Bengali-like muslims to settle in a nation of 160 million Bengali muslims.

why on earth Bangladesh would absorb 1 million people living in Arakan for centuries?? They are your people....your problem

    s. It's very hypocritical for Bangladeshis to call for 'jihad' on one hand then claim on the other that these people are foreign citizens (technically untrue) and has nothing to do with Bangladesh

you are taking one post of this thread too seriously, this is internet bro.... we want peaceful myanmar , muslims and buddhist living together peacefully.....

    land after all.
What? Arakanese people speak Burmese. Arakanese people practice Buddhism. Arakan had been a tributary kingdom to the Burmese empire for centuries. It was formally annexed by the Burmese around 250 years ago. It was given to the British as part of the peace settlement after the First Anglo-Burmese war. It wasn't theirs to give to anyone in the first place. The Rohingyas are not considered 'Arakanese' by Arakanese people. That's not bigotry, that's a fact. It is the Rohingyas who should accept integration if they wish to live in Arakan. Arakan belongs to the Arakanese; that's pretty simple.

My 'propaganda' comes from my Arakanese relatives. And like I said, this transcends politics. It does not matter if there is a military dictatorship or a democracy. Infact, if there was a referendum on this issue in Myanmar, I'm pretty certain the outcome would be to send them back to Bangladesh. Now that is a hardline stance and I oppose that. I think Rohingyas should be allowed to integrate into Myanmar but not as an autonomous republic. You say they have been living in Arakan for centuries but as they have such close tiess to Bangladesh and are shunned by both the Burmese and Arakanese, should Bangladesh not be more receptive to them as they are essentially Bengalis who settled in a neighbouring country?

...Just a simple question, what the hell is our FM doing in this regard? Are we ready to bear the extra burden of these refugee's? And don't we have any liability regarding this inhuman brutal acts against the muslims???

Bangladeshis are highly racist people they deny the biharis and treat the Rohingya like dirt and deny them only a war with Myanmar can change this attitude.

Just to further the point I made about how this has nothing to do with the political system in Myanmar, there are protests right now in Yangon actually calling for a more hardline stance from the government. Bangladesh must step up and stop denying their cultural, religious, linguistic and historical links with the Rohingyas. This is not a solely Burmese problem.

Myanmar is too weak to push them into our land......

@ alaungphaya: There are lots of tribal people who has cultural, religious, social similarities and link with other tribal people across the border in India and Myanmar. If I use your logic, I think we should send them back across the border. We will not do, because they are our citizen and they lived there for centuries and their birth right to be in their land. So, it is the right of rohingas to be in their land.

No it not Bangladesh's problem. It is solely the problem of Myanmar as she has created in early 90s in the name of persecuting the opposition of junta just like junta did to other indigenous people in other states.

See, this is exactly the sort of attitude that will lead to discord between Myanmar and Bangladesh. First, willful denial of the fact that Bengali muslims who speak a Chittagong dialect have obvious links to Bangladesh. Second, the arrogance to presume that the Burmese are too weak to do something drastic about it. The ones who will suffer are the Rohingyas themselves but Bangladeshis don't seem to care about that as they have nothing to do with Bangladesh

I think Bangladesh should team up with Thailand who also face same kind of refugee problems and create pressure on the junta to take back their citizens and stopping them to persecute tribal people.
