BAF aircraft crashes in Bogra: 2 pilots injured
A training aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force crashed
at Erulia in Bogra on Thursday.
A training aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force crashed at a local airbase at Arulia in Sadar upazila yesterday, leaving its two pilots injured.
An ISPR release, said the two pilots-squadron leader AAMM Shamsuzzman and squadron leader Jamal Uddin Ahmed-were well after the accident.
The two pilots were sent to the Combined Ministry Hospital here for routine health checkup. "They are now well," said the ISPR release.
Local Fire Service Station Master Shahadat Hossain said the accident took place as the aircraft, PT-6, developed technical trouble shortly after takeoff from the base at about 12 noon.
"Sensing danger, the pilot in the driving-seat hurriedly tried to land the aircraft on the runway, but the plane nosedived on the runway as its engine went out of order," said Shahadat Hossain.
Firefighters rushed in and rescued the two injured pilots. They were admitted to the local CMH.
The aircraft was severely damaged in the crash.
Police were deployed in the area following the accident.
Curious people of the area thronged around the spot to know about the incident.
Following the crash-landing of the aircraft, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Shah Mohammad Ziaur Rahman came to Bogra and visited the accident spot.
He also visited the two pilots at the CMH.
