As soon as the BD government taken over and Mujib back from Pakistan, he disarmed all the muktis and pardoned the Rajakars. Biharis were taken to safety under the UN jurisdiction. No Pakistan army was harmed after the surrender.

In what context was this video shot? can someone clarify on the authenticity? ...last part might be faked.

So far as I know, the video is not doctored. I have tried to trace the exact date and place of the rally, but unfortunately haven't been successful. Bhutto had traveled several times to East Pakistan between March and December of '71 and had held several public rallies. This video is of one of those rallies.

As with the context, I guess you are already aware of it by now.

1st Arabian Cultural Festival begins November 23

To make a bridge and focusing cultural exchange between Bangladeshi and Arabian culture, Orenda Communication, event management house, and Nabanritya, dance organisation, in association with different Arabian embassies in Dhaka are going to organise the First Arabian Cultural Festival at Shawkat Osman Auditorium of the Central Public Library at Shahbagh in the city from November 23.

Besides presentation of Arabian dance and songs with the performance by country's leading artistes, Arabian films will be also screened during the festival. Ten Arabian films including 'The Colour of Paradise,' 'Children of Heaven,' 'Close Up,' 'Test of Cherry,' 'Baran,' Alibaba Forty Thieves' will be screened in the festival, said Farzana Khan Ela, Convener of the festival organising committee.

The three-day festival will be inaugurated by Health related Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Syed Modasser Ali. Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran and Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Shafique Alam Mehedi will be also present as special guests on the occasion, said the organisers.

Bestway Group, Swadesh Properties, Milar Air-conditioner, ICL Group, Founder Laptor and Digital Mobile will sponsor the festival, while Geo News and Radio Foorti are media partners. Festival will be held from 3:00pm to 9:00pm till November 25. Entry fee is Tk 10 for students and Tk 20 for all, said the organisers.

Dhaka, Nov 21 (bdnews24.com) -- Amnesty International has urged Bangladesh not to execute five convicted killers, former army officers, sentenced to death for the assassination of Bangladesh's founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The international human rights watchdog said that the murder of Sheikh Mujib and his family members on Aug 15 1975 were grave human rights abuses and the killers should be brought to justice.

"However, bringing people to justice must not itself violate the human rights of the accused," it said.

In a statement issued on Friday, AI urged president Zillur Rahman to commute the death sentences "as a matter of urgency".

It also urged prime minister Sheikh Hasina to request the president to commute the sentences.

"Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases regardless of the nature of the crime, the characteristics of the offender, or the method used by the state to kill the prisoner," said AI.

The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the appeals of the five jailed convicts, upholding a previous High Court order awarding death sentences to twelve former army officers in all, six of whom remain fugitive while one has since died as a fugitive in Zimbabwe.

The five condemned men—retired major general Bazlul Huda, dismissed lieutenant colonel Syed Faruk Rahman, retired lieutenant colonel Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, retired colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed and retired major AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed—await their fate now in Dhaka Central Jail.

"The death penalty violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment."

Following the rejection of their appeals, lawyers for the five condemned men have said they will submit a review petition with the Appellate Division.

But the only real hope for them lies in clemency granted by the president.

Amnesty International also considers that Bangladesh should immediately establish a moratorium on executions with a view to abolishing the death penalty altogether.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on Dec 18, 2007 calling for a worldwide moratorium on executions.

Why people are apologitic about what Quader Siddiqui did during war? If he was caught by those Razakars, he would have also been killed mercilessly. Why to criticize him for his acts during war. As a leader a person should have minimal qualification to understand what goes on in a critical situation such as after the 1970 election it was his stupidity and lack of common sense that 2-3 lacs people died in the lib war .

Sk Mujib education qualification was typically a mystery he claimed to be BA pass ,an exam he made another person to appear for him belonging to hindu religion , his unifying capacity is another understatement , proven by the way he managed them during his 72-75 regime.

The recent appeal decision of the murder trial of Mujib or BKSAL is a joke with fabricated evidence an extension of the drama created by the same criminals during Sk Hasina'a rule.

The last 34 years was not a dark era but today! when these brave son of the soil are degraded as murderers and our callous Bengalese nationalist forces are seeing the circus of Awami RAW media manipulations.

Days are not far when we will see our country run by imbecile leaders and serial killer who will turn it into a spineless nation and act as slaves of India worshipping Mahalingum.

Exactly.
If killing Mujib was at the top of their agenda,then after killing him they could have send the whole family to exile.Because,after Mujib,it was Khondokar Mushtaq who was in power and who was also part of the conspiracy.
Besides,these officers had complete backing from General Zia ur Rahman,who knew about the plot all along.
According to Col Farook in an interview after the killing,told when they told Ziaur Rahman about the plot:

Zia ur Rahman said,"I as a senior officer can not be part of something like this,but if you junior officers want ,youcan go ahead".

So this means by all means they would be in power after Mujib was killed.And Sheikh Mujib's remaining family would not have dared to stand up against the army.Plus people liked Mujib not his family members.And by 1975,people were angry on Mujib's family members and also him.Especially because of mismanagement and corruption by AL party men which caused the most deadly famine in our history.

This further proves the point that they could have just packed and send these people abroad to exile.They could have send the women and children at least.

But they chose bloodbath,not even sparing young Rasel.So they do deserve death sentence for the killing of women(one of the was pregnant) and child.
