There isn't a single credible media outlet which has backed this claim.

Post one and then only this thread will taken seriously.

Can't find anything about breaking down of the plant.

Steel Guru : BHEL installs 120 MW gas turbine unit in Bangladesh

It is reported that the 120 MW gas turbine generating unit at Siddhirganj Power Plant in Bangladesh set up by Bharat Heavy Electricals was inaugurated by Mr Sheikh Hasina PM, Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.

This is the first unit of the prestigious 240 MW Siddhirganj Peaking Power Plant Project being set up by BHEL on turnkey basis. The second unit is also in an advanced stage of completion at the Asian Development Bank funded project of the Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh.

BHEL has earlier set up the 100 MW Baghabari Power Plant in Bangladesh which has been operating successfully for almost a decade. The commissioning of this 120 MW unit at Siddhirganj Power Plant marks another milestone in further strengthening India Bangladesh trade and economic relations.

Electricity generated by the Siddhirganj power plant will provide the much needed addition to the installed power generating capacity of Bangladesh. For the project, the scope of work awarded to BHEL by EGCB, Bangladesh includes complete design, manufacture, testing, supply, installation and commissioning of 2 numbers 126 MW ISO rated Gas Turbines and Generators along with auxiliaries and Gas Booster Compressors, besides other major equipment and civil works.

Major equipment like gas turbines, generators, gas booster compressors, generator transformers as well as state of the art control systems were manufactured by BHEL at their various plants in India. For the civil as well as erection commissioning and other local works, local companies in Bangladesh were associated.

Bangladesh has been a key export territory of BHEL, where in the past, it has successfully executed several contracts including the 100 MW Baghabari Gas Turbine Power Plant; 230 kV Baghabari Substation and extension of the existing 230 kV Ishurdi Substation, besides supply of Power Transformers, HT Motors and Oilfield equipment to various industries in Bangladesh.

BHEL has a rich and varied experience of supplying and installing over 1, 00,000 MW of power plant equipment and has established its footprints in all the six continents of the world, spanning over 70 countries. BHEL’s technical competence has earned worldwide acclaim and the company is taking long strides to become a major global player by further enhancing its presence in international markets.

I think I have found it.

PM Hasina inaugurated operation of Gas fired Siddhirganj Power Plant only 8 days ago. Gas supply to hundreds of industries of Rupganj and part of other Narayanganj areas were kept suspended to allow gas supply to Siddhirganj Power plant of Indian Company BHEL. Even then due to low gas pressure the plant operation has been shut down.

The reason is low gas pressure, does not have anything to do with BHEL equipment....

Great find! The article clearly says that the plant had to shut down because of low gas pressure.

Maybe some of these Bangladeshis were thinking that the BHEL turbines could run without fuel.

This is the height of idiocy.

Kindly replace BHEL with India as usual practice for India bashing.

At the time of commissioning and test run there will be a lot of adjustment and readjustment. Even a simple compressor or a bad wiring could bring the plant to a complete shutdown. A power plant is a complex machine. Please be patient. It will be just fine.

That's the difference right there, you know. Comparing a couple of people from BD with couple of people of India - and proclaiming how intelligent or dexterous BD people are........ Taking an incident out of nowhere involving Indian students - does not really stand up in any form of argument.

Nobody in this world cares about anybody's potential.....only results matter.

All indian members, pls help report his posts, there is no reason we have to tolerate a hate mongers verbal vomit. His posts have nothing to do with the (fake) topic and he's just abused all indians in a (fake) case involving one indian company. This is against the forum rules.

Wayne State University?!

Sorry to be rude... but what is the engineering ranking of Wayne State?

It is quite interesting to know the fact that BUET's top brass go to Wayne State.

There will be brainiacs and dumbasses in every country. So comparing a smart guy and an idiot from different countries doesn't represent anything. You'll see many Americans who cant spot USA on the world map. But are all American's dumb? If so, how did they become the leading nation in the world?

My grandfather is one of the best hydro-electric specialists in India and was on Jacques Piccard's team in Switzerland in the 60s. His son, my uncle, is one of the most in-demand civil engineers in Kerala, specialising in high-cost apartments. He has also undertaken projects in middle east and Thailand. I don't go around comparing them to average Bangladeshis to prove Indians are better. Besides, you shouldn't count the brainpower of people working in other countries. Their contributions help the country they stay in, not the one they originate from.

No one has doubted Bangladesh's potential. But talking of untapped potential is like talking about helium deposits on the moon. Its is just a lot of gas until efforts are made towards tapping them and producing results!

It takes 42 muscles to frown, but only 4 muscles to pull the trigger of a decent sniper rifle
