The latest rumor (May 2011) claimed a much improved version with stealth features, new avionics and DSI (JH-7B?) has been under development at 603/XAC and the first prototype may have been constructed.

It might be a Photoshop, but the design in the picture seems to be pretty consistent with the JH-7B model that was shown to PLAAF commanders.



The JH-7B is also believed to feature AESA radar.

All the stealth fighters are resembling and its hard to say which plane is derived from which fighter jet. I would say this looks more like an F-22 than JH-7.

I am really amazed to see how simple living Chinese people are to date. They are 9Trillion economy but 9trillions are in their pocket not in the nerves. China you are indeed a Great Nation.

It has DSI, diamond nose, redesigned airframe, RAM, and AESA. All that point to stealthy.

if the pic is true,then the wing of JH7B looks like F/A-18E

V-tail seems to be certain.but twin vertical stabilizers are still uncertain.it needs to wait for more clear pics will appear

The tail maybe but the wing seems to be bigger i.e. having more surface area.

That's probably just a J-8 or JF-17.

Possible, especially if the plane was climbing (which would make it seem shorter)

The tail does not look anything like a J-8's or a JF-17's. Also you can see the side rails which are not consistent with a J-8 and the absence of the JF-17's LERX denies that possibility too.
