The following is a quote from a discussion on BRF, it's about a Russian report on the development of HAL Tejas and the J-10. On page 25 it states that a J-10 has engaged a F22 and come out victorious.

How much substance is there to this?

Not sure if this has been posted but Air Fleet carried a nice review on Tejas and J-10 development program.

Russian engines АL-31FN, managed to shoot
down an American multipurpose fighter of the 5th
generation F-22 Raptor above the Taiwan Strait.
During the incident subflight Su-30 blocked other
American Air Force aircraft off the “Feathered
Raptor”. The shot down Raptor fell down the
continental part of China and after that was taken
to pieces “for spare parts” by the locals. And the
successfully catapulted F-22 pilot was “quietly” –
by mutual consent of the parties – sent by the
Chinese to the American Command…».

I seen an artical in Chinese, so i'm guessing they just picked up the story.

As for the incident it is fake, one of the Chinese articals posted a picture of a destroyed F-22 but that picture was from one of two F-22 crashes, one was from pilot error and the other was from a glitch in the FBW system.

An F-22 has been downed by the forces of China’s People's Liberation Army Air Force. Amazingly, they discovered underlying audio that could only be detected with the most sensitive of auditory equipment. The communiqué was in Chinese so we asked the FU School of Languages to interpret. Below you can read the scripted message that resulted from our interpretation. Before watching the video, you may want to read through this a few times so that you are better able to catch the various innuendos and subtle implications.
