BJP demolished 300 temples in Gujarat says congress candidate | TwoCircles.net
New Delhi: Congress party is all set to expose BJP’s Hindutva at its hinterland. The party has decided to highlight the issue of demolition of over 290 temples in Gujarat, particularly in Gandhinagar. Modi government had demolished over 290 big and small temples in the name of development causing much resentment in the local people. BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani is seeking re-election from Gandhinagar. Local citizens had expected that Advani would prevent Modi from ‘irreligious’ demolition but the local MP never showed his displeasure against Modi’s ‘bulldozers. Till now, Advani has not uttered a word of sympathy nor has promised to rebuild the demolished temples. Talking to TwoCircles.net on phone the congress candidate from Gandhinagar Suresh Kumar Patel said: “This is very emotional issue for us. These people have demolished 300 temples and now they are talking of construction of temple in Ayodhya”. He said that people of Gujarat are very angry over the anti religious activity of Gujarat government. “Even Advani did not speak a word when temples were razed” he said adding the leader of opposition rarely visit the constituency. Claiming that this time Advani would face defeat by Congress, he said he was a local and now the local people would no more tolerate the double standards of BJP. Patel is currently an MLA from Kalol near Gandhinagar. Here too a senior leader of the party told this correspondent that the congress would also raise the issue at national level to expose BJP Modi, considered the poster boy of Hindutva, had launched a demolition drive against illegal structures including temples in November last. Big protest were taken out against Modi over the issue A “Mandir Bachao Sangharsh Samiti” was also formed but Modi bulldozer stopped only after demolition worked was completed. Sunil Oza, a former legislator of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who later formed Maha Gujarat Janata Party (MJP), said at that time that: “Modi is a true successor of Mahmud Gazni, Babar and Aurangzeb. ______________________________________________ Comment : How politics works When the same BJP govt demolished a dargah in baroda a few years back, there were riots, people were stabbed etc and all hell broke loose abt BJP's state sponsored terrorism. nobody bothered to check that the courts had cleared the demolition of the dargah and along with it many hindu temples were demolished too.All politicians are the same, and people should not look at things through colored glasses. one day they'll oppose one thing and the other they'll do it themselves. Lets demolish all illegal temples to pave way for development. |

^^ Absolutely. Development comes first. If it means bulldozing a thousand temples or mosques or churches or synagogues or gurdwaras or any other religious edifice, unless it is of historical or architectural importance, so be it.

Goddamn, the indians must realise that first we are indians and then belong to any particular relgion.........religion should be the last thing to come in way of india's developments and industrialization.........modi inspite of being an communal brat, has taken lot of steps in gujrats development.......he even surprisingly ditched his party's hindutva policy in gujrat's development.......quiet a refreshing take i must say........thnx

I am not a great supporter of MODI. But as far as development is concerned he is the best performing CM in India. As far as demolishing places of worship, I will support it,if they are blocking traffic and are build within 100 meters of any road. We have many such places of worship in Delhi which are causing problem for traffic.

Congress claim they are secular.. and now they are playing communal politics card.. Demolishing temples and mosques are done because those where illegal and was obstructing development. Politicians really shouldnt mix these things up. Earlier the people used to build temples/churchs in their land so that when any major high way or infrastructure is planned their land is not taken away.. such opportunist should be punished and modi is really doing a good job on that front..!!!

In India the English Language Media will never highlight this fact that Narendra Modi Govt. has demolished temples which were encroaching on public land.
Last year when on the same drive, a place of worship for the minorities was demolished, all our English Television media from NDTV to CNN-IBN to Times Now went ballistic, as if this was the only place of worship targeted. This is definitely not secularism. Our politicians have twisted the whole concept of secularism to suit their needs. |
