INTRODUCTION

A Software Technology Park (STP) is the need of the hour as there is tremendous demand for Call Centers, Off-Shore Software Development, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), IT Outsourcing (ITO), Application Maintenance Outsourcing (AMO), and Tele-Medicine Opportunities. It would also kick start economic activity in Lahore in the construction as well as IT industry. The Government of Punjab has given approval to Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to plan and develop Software Technology Park (STP) at 346-B Ferozepur Road, Lahore.

This initiative will send a clear message to the IT industry in Pakistan as well as abroad that the Punjab Government is committed to the growth of IT in Punjab. It will also help share Government of the Punjab's IT vision with the IT industry and the general public. In addition, it would attract foreign investors to Punjab, which would provide boost to Pakistan's overall economy. This initiative is in line with the vision of government policy of promoting IT in Pakistan and providing the right business environment to foreign investors.

The STP will be a one-window operation to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in Punjab. One-window operation would allow the foreign investors to start IT and IT-enabled businesses in an expeditious manner and it will provide boost to the local economy.

The software technology park would have world class infrastructure, layout and system of civic services. The planning, designing and development of the software park will reflect the latest trends, styles, specifications and management systems.

The STP would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like wireless LAN/WAN, VSAT, Video Conferencing, Disaster Recovery Sites, R&D Labs, Tele-Medicine, IT Incubation Center, Training Institutes, IT University, and a Global Data Center. The STP would also offer supporting services such as travel & banking services, health club and security and safety systems. The idea is to have all IT and IT-enabled services under one roof.

There is one thing i don't understand about Pakistanis. When a person is alive, hardly anyone gives a $hit. But when a person dies, then there is so much sadness that all of a sudden things will be start being named after them.
Take Benazir Bhutto...and Islamabad airport....

This is a good thing for respecting Arfa. But how come we didn't do anything for her and for people like her when they were alive?

,late Arfa Karim's father Lt.Col(retired) Randhawa inaugurated Arfa Software Technology Park--situated at Ferozepur Road Lahore--along with Shehbaz Sharif.This purpose-built building will soon become hub of IT activities and house Pakistan's first IT university campus in the near future

This not a new Project was actually initiated in Musharf's government, Zalim-e-Ala has just renamed it. Building was 60% complete when i last saw few years back.

IT Park named after Arfa

LAHORE - On the directions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government has decided to name the Lahore Information Technology Park after Arfa Karim Randhawa. Talking to the father of Arfa Karim, the chief minister said she had won laurels for which the Pakistani nation will never forget. He said that Arfa Karim also impressed the people older to her and she was the precious asset of the entire Pakistan. He announced the parents of Arfa will be the chief guests in the function of distribution of free laptops among male and female students by the Punjab government.
