KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan has introduced Dukhtar-e-Mashriq Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) Commemorative Coin of Rs. 10 value on the eve of her first death anniversary.
All the Field Offices of SBP BSC (Bank) will start issuance of Rs. 10 commemorative coin through their exchange counters from December 26, said SBP statement issued here on Wednesday.
The metal composition, colour, dimension and design of the coin are following; Metal Composition is copper nickel, copper (75%) and Nickel (25%). Colour is white, dimension is 27.5 mm, weight is 8.25 gms (Remedy allowed not exceeding 1/40th).
On obverse side, the waxing crescent moon and a five-pointed star facing northwest in rising position is in the centre. Along with periphery on the top of the crescent star is inscribed in wording Islami Jamhoria Pakistan in Urdu script. Below the crescent and at the top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward, there is the year of issuance 2008.
The face value of the coin in numeral is 10 in bold letters and Rupee in Urdu Script are written on the right and left sides of crescent star respectively. A circle of small beads is all along the edge of the coin.
On the reverse side; in the centre of the reverse side, the coin bears portrait of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) and inscribed in wording in Urdu script along with periphery on the top of the portrait. On the left and right sides of the portrait, year of birth and demise are inscribed respectively in numeral wording. A circle of small beads is all along the edge of the coin.
The existing Rs. 10 banknotes will continue to be legal tender and will remain in circulation along with the other Rs. 10 coins, said SBP statement.
