China provided the financing as a condition that India purchases Chinese equipment. If this stops India from purchasing the Chinese equipment, the financing will be withdrawn. Regardless, India has no capability of making adequate power equipment and has no track record of timely delivery. I am just going to sit back and watch this circus show of freaks and thugs.

If anyone reads the article , he will find that chinese firms have only Won 34% of the 61000 MW of power projects
the remaining 66 % of the projects were won by Indian company
The increase in import Duty will ensure that Indian companies will increase there share to Atleast 85% , thanks to the double wammy of decline in Rupee and increase in taxes

As it is important to save valuable forex , and in the long run increased reliance on Indian companies will lead to improvement in employment as well as boasting the growth rate , not to mention the benefits of a reduced trade deficit

frankly i expect telecom ministry to follow suit in increasing duty on chinese gear , since Indian companies which only had about 50% of the share in this market should benefit by having a level playing field against the chin

We should only import goods that are essential for economy or which are not manufactured in India

for Instance NaMo should setup 2 more plants in Gujrat to Manufacture metro trains as well as increasing the capacity of the curent single plant built in JV with Bombardier
this will ensure that chinese companies who won order to supply two of the eight ongoing metro projects , do not win order for any of the 12 planed metro projects
