In this post i will give you the basic information on how to join Pakistan Air Force (PAF) as commissioned officer. In PAF you will be either joining in as a GD or a Technician. In this article we are focusing on the technical side of things. For starters lets analyze the courses available in the technical field. After that we would look at the Selection Procedure, followed by Ineligibility Conditions & PAF selection Centers across Pakistan.

Courses available;

1. Aernautical Engineering Course
2. Basic Air Defence Long Course
3. Admin & Special Duties Course
4. Logistic Branch
5. Information Technology
6. Legal Branch
7. A & SD (Civil Engineering)

Now lets discuss the entry requirements & details of these courses/roles available at PAF

1. AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING COURSE:

Training Details: Its a 4 years course ( 2 years as Avaiation cadet, 2 years as Pilot officer) at PAF academy Risalpur (College of Aeronautical Engineering) for Bsc Engineering degree from National University of Science & Technology (NUST). On successful completion cadets will be commissioned in the Engineering Branch of PAF.

Requirements : Age : 16-22 Years , Nationality : Male/Female & Citizen of Pakistan, Unmarried, Min height: 5ft-4in (Male), 5ft-2in (female)

Candidate must have passed matric in 1st Division& Fsc with minimum 60% marks in any of the following ;

* Matric 1st division & Fsc (Pre Engg) with Chemistry as subject.
* A Levels with Maths, Physics & Chemistry
* O level in five subjects (with A Level)
* Fsc Part II candidates can also apply provided they submite a hope certificate from head of institution where they are likely to pass their Fsc exams with minimum 60% marks (must have pass Part I with min 60% marks). Candidates who have studied abroad must present equivalence certificate at the time of registration.

2. BASIC AIR DEFENCE LONG COURSE:

Training Details: 2 years course at PAF academy Risalpur.

Requirements : Age : 16-22 Years , Nationality : Male & Citizen of Pakistan, Unmarried, Min height: 5ft-4in

Candidate must have passed Fsc with minimum 50% marks in any of the following ;

* Fsc (Pre-Engg/Pre-Med/Computer Science).
* Fsc with Physics & any two subjects i.e. Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or Biology
* A levels with Physics and Maths or Biology (O level in 5 subjects).

3. ADMIN & SPECIAL DUTIES COURSE:

Training Details: 2 years course at PAF academy Risalpur & specific training institutes.

Requirements : Age : 16-22 Years , Nationality : Male & Citizen of Pakistan, Unmarried, Min height: 5ft-4in

Candidate must have passed Fsc with minimum 50% marks in any of the following ;

* Fsc (Pre-Engg/Pre-Med/Computer Science).
* Fsc with Physics & any two subjects i.e. Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or Biology
* A levels with Physics and Maths or Biology (O level in 5 subjects).

4. LOGISTICS BRANCH:

Training Details: 42 weeks training as Aviation Cadet at PAF Academy Risalpur years course at PAF academy Risalpur & School of Logistics, Kohat.

Requirements : Age : 18-30 Years , Nationality : Male & Citizen of Pakistan, Single/Married, Min height: 5ft-4in

Candidate must have Bsc/Bba minimum 2nd Division or equivalent grades from a recognized Pakistani/Foreign University.

5. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:

Training Details: 20 weeks training as Aviation Cadet at PAF Academy Risalpur.

Requirements : Age : 18-30 Years , Nationality : Male & Citizen of Pakistan, Single/Married, Min height: 5ft-4in

Candidate must have Msc minimum 2nd Division in Computer Science/IT/MCS/BCS (Hons 4 years)/ BE in Computer Systems/BCS/BSC in Computer Science with min 2 years experiance from a recognized Pakistani/Foreign University.

6. LEGAL BRANCH:

Training Details: 20 weeks training as Aviation Cadet at PAF Academy Risalpur.

Requirements : Age : 18-30 Years , Nationality : Male & Citizen of Pakistan, Single/Married, Min height: 5ft-4in

Candidate must have LLB minimum 2nd Division from a recognized Pakistani/Foreign University. Candidates having experience of Practical Law will be given preference.

7. A & SD (CIVIL ENGINEERING):

Training Details: 20 weeks training as Aviation Cadet at PAF Academy Risalpur.

Requirements : Age : 18-30 Years , Nationality : Male & Citizen of Pakistan, Single/Married, Min height: 5ft-4in

Candidate must have BE/BSC minimum 2nd Division from a recognized Pakistani/Foreign University.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

* Selection at all PAF Information & Selection Centres (view location of all selection centres at the end of this article).
* Intelligence Test followed by Academic Tests in the following subjects will be conducted through e-testing.

* Preliminary Medical Examination & Interview at all PAF and Information and Selection Centres.
* Test/Interview by ISSB Kohat/Malir/Gujranwala.
* Final Medical Examination by CMB at PAF Masroor Karachi.
* Final Selection by Air Headquarters in order of Merit.

INELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

* Twice rejected by Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) /General Head Quarters (GHQ) Selection Board.
* Twice screened out by ISSB/GHQ Selection Board.
* Once rejected by ISSB and once rejected by GHQ Selection Board (ISSB) and GHQ Selection Board will be considered at par for eligibility purpose. Absent from any service Selection Board will be treated as rejected.
* Twice rejected by ISSB or any service Selection Board for specific higher qualification courses.
* Permanently declared unfit by Armed Forces Appeal Medical Board (AFAMB) for commissioning in PAF/Army/Navy (Candidates declared unfit by Central Medical Board (CMB)/Combined Military Hospital (CMH) will remain ineligible until they are declared fit by AFAMB.
* If dismissed / removed / debarred from any Government Service including Armed Forces.
* If withdrawn/rejected from any service training institution for the reason of maladjustment/disciplinary ground/medical unfitness/resignation/purchase of release/character qualities. However, candidates withdrawn due to poor performance in academic or lack of flying aptitude are eligible to apply for Branch other than one they were withdrawn from.
* If convicted by a court of law for any offence.
* If their original Academic Certificates are found tampered with.
* If they have concealed any information or have provided incorrect information at the time of filling in their application forms.
