GD Pilot as a Doctor?

Asalaam o alaikum folks,

I am a medical student, doing MD from an american university. I will be completing my medicine in 16 months more inshALLAH. I am 22 right now and will turn 23 this september (2012).

Eventhough I am becoming a doctor, I would like to try my luck as a GD pilot. I have gone through all the info one could find on the PAF website and other places about the eligibility criterion. I am eligible. I just want to know how does the whole selection process go about? When will this year's selections take place; how much time does it take for the whole process to complete, from the time of registration to the joining of PAF risalpur for training and that, if in the meanwhile when my application is being processed, i turn 23, would I become ineligible?

Be careful of the bait and switch. That is, acceptance for pilot training, you are inducted, but then they shift your assignment to a medical job.

Age limit : should be 16 t0 22 year on 15 april 2012

Training Period: 4 years(include 2 year training as aviation cadet) at PAF Academy Risalpur leading to the award of BS in Aviation Sciences and Management from Air University Islamabad


The following selection procedure is followed for commissioning in the PC courses of PAF

Advertisement in leading newspapers
Registration
Intelligence Test followed by Academic Test
Preliminary medical examination at PAF I&S Centres
Filling up of application Forms which are dispatched to GHQ for scrutiny of their previous candidature
ISSB tests and interview
Central Medical Board at PAF Masroor Karachi
Flying Aptitude Test of GD (P) candidates
Preparation of merit list by Air Headquarters
Issuance of joining instructions for training at PAF Academy Risalpur

If u ask me... at the end of the day we need more doc than pilots.
having said that.... even than any1 joining PAF as GDP will be contributiong a lot...

BUT changing over after ur med qualifications... that would b a waste of time and efforts that u have put in while doing ur studies.

My advice if it counts for anything... stick to med and best of luck

Thank you all for ur kind cmments, i really appreciate them I just wanted to avail a chance since serving in the forces and that too as a pilot has been my ambition since childhood...........I just want to clear something, some people here r saying that I cant apply anymore, is it true? I mean by june 8 i will be 22....and also when exactly are the test dates?
and as for the humor and blunt honesties up there yes am a girl and girls sure rock in uniform

I'd also like to ask that if someone's eye sight is not 6/6 and they correct it by lets say laser surgery etc, would they be eligible for the exam?
