Guud old memories!
When we did the para fortunately the airforce guys also joined in, so it was a nice experience. Except that the PMA dudes were much more pain in a** for SSG walas at PTS

What year did you jump me 4th April 1960.

I thought I wouldn't jump again until my boys were 18.... and maybe the three of us could jump together. This videos got my adrenaline pumping again and I think I might be heading to a drop zone very soon.

To all those who have not jumped before... a thread connected at the end of the static line pulls out your main chute. So your life is literally hanging by a thread. Some of those PLF landings really hurt.

Have any of my respected forums members had any close calls during their jumps?

Sir with due respect i'll be omitting the dates, but i did it during my cadetship. (had to qualify for Para if you did more the 15~16 heaving and got 10 points in the mile test and a few others also).

Was among the ones who were looking forward for the Para Shield but again they had to give it to the airforce this time as the last two times we took it with a clean sweep

It is nice to know that you know much about para trooping. That thread to which you have refered to is know as 'Static Line' and these jumps are known as Static Line Jumps. The other kind being Free Fall. i know that in the US anyone can go and carryout these jumps on payment, but i'll like to clarify that the military (to include the airforce) term para trooping as BAC (Basic Airborne Course), meaning thereby it is not just the jumps, but other stuff also that you need to know while being an actual trooper (behind enemy lines kinda stuff), otherwise, as far as the Static Line Jump is concerned a donkey can be harnessed around with a parachute and kicked out of the C-130 and the 'thread' (static line) will get the job done.

Did my first Free Fall in 1984 in USA while on a course. It was arranged by UASF Maxwell AFB. Sqn Ldr Gill from IAF was the first one to say I will then I PAF, Col Jamal of Turkey. Col Jamal had 4 ejections before he came to USA

Skydiving was my passion as long as I can remember. I've always been fascinated with flying and parachutes. My first jump was a tandem. Then I did the static line course to eventually progress to a USPA A rating. We had to climb out onto the Cessna wing strut and dangle in the air until the signal from the jump master. From this I progressed to freefall.
