Presidential poll: sanctity of sacred ballot dented in NWFP assembly

PESHAWAR: A number of MPAs of NWFP assembly including the Chief Minister violated the sanctity of secret ballot by displaying the stamped ballot papers in the presidential elections held yesterday.

According to the sources, those who showed the ballot papers before casting included Chief Minister, Amir Haider Hoti, Senior Minister, Bashir Bilour, Information Minister, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Nargis Sameen and other MPAs.

It may be mentioned here that the presiding officer had to stop the voting after Nargis Sameen showed the stamped ballot paper. The process was resumed after the situation was brought under control.

The analysts said the sanctity of sacred ballot was dented which was a clear violation of election laws. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said these votes were illegal under the law and action should have been taken straight away.

Chief of Awami Muslim League, Sheikh Rashid said, “beauty of this election is secret balloting and if members themselves violate, which means there is an element of mistrust.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s leader Sirajul Haq termed it as shameful act while leader of MQM, Babar Ghouri said the violators should apologize to the nation and submit their resignation immediately

awwwwwwww so much so for the sanctity of sacred ballot, after getting elected Zardari had announced to induct 10 MPs from PML-N and PML-Q forward blocks in the cabinet giving them 10 ministries in bribe or for selling their vote to Zardari.



so which its strange when people call ballot as sacred in this case.

Atleast in the NWFP assembly the did not betrayed and openly told whome they are voting for so that in the end those who realy voted for own party could not be blamed inplace of those who did not.
