F16 has evolved continuously which gives you no right to degrade it by saying its 30 year old fighter and not worth buying ... Pakistan got its first F16's in the 80's ... After then , subsequent orders were placed for upgraded blocks of the Viper ... Now how does it remain a 3 decade old fighter ?

Yeah whatever India chooses to buy automatically becomes God's gift to aviation ... I wonder if Indians would have been using the same tone , had their MoD opted for F16IN in MRCA ... USAF itself plans to use Vipers till 2025 ...

They are not replacing it... they are getting F-35 a 5th gen fighter... there defence budget is more than 1 trillion $$... no other country can match it?

As for purchasing power... 80 million $ per unit speaks for itself.

F16/52 X 18 FIGHTERS (1.4 billion)is nothing more than robbery. ADD ANOTHER $650M for weapons and its a MASSIVE BAS DECISION.

USA is a country that will SANCTION PAF at the moment A WAR STARTS with INDIA.

21ST CENTURY is all ABOUT USA & INDIA strategic RELATIONSHIP

let me put it this way

DO YOU THINK USA WILL pour IN SUPPLIES AND SPARES LIKE THEY DID IN 1971...

EVEN IF IT WAS USA MONEY GRANT AID

That money should have gone on a SANCTION FREE FIGHTER of a late 4th generation genre

    GRIPEN NG
    RAFAEL
Typhoon (like saudis) cross help for spares maintenmance

    $80M EACH is a joke...

(sanctions) WHY DO YOU THINK IAF have rejected F18 SUPERHORNETS & F35 IN MMRCA

BECAUSE IN A WAR nobody wants to get caught with their pants down

f-35 will replace teens in USAF but f-35 program is facing problems..so they will have to upgrade f-16.
f-16 per unit cost is not 80 million..there must be some other tech involved in deal.

Its 80 million coz of the high tech we bought instead of basic version 50/52... we bought 50/52+ thts why its high.
