Rightly said... we do want help in defence but not from the killer of inocent children of palestine and lebanon. and about F16 well i think originally the plan was to buy 28 blk15 ex-peace gate.... so i think these 14 are from the ex peace gate blk15.

This was very much expected. In the coming years US will sell more and more F16s to Pak and other developing countries.

The F16 is an old platform now and needs to be replaced in US. Pak may and most probably will strike some good deals with US over F16 in US inventory that they want to get rid of.
Also US doesn't want to lose its arms customer, now that India has indicated that it might be looking somewhere else for its defence needs.
And of course there is this china threat to US. Now US will try to get back Pak's confidence and try to separate it from china so as to isolate china and reduce Pak's dependence on China.

US to provide 14 F-16 jet planes to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The United States has agreed to provide another 14 F-16 jet planes to Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said at a media briefing Saturday.

The Pakistan Air Force is capable of thwarting both conventional and unconventional threats from enemy, he said.

The air force chief said that the Pakistan Air Force is focusing on its preparedness and is taking stock of it preparations according to the modern trends.

Indo-Pak row over F-16 fighters

In a reaction that is bound to raise the hackles in Islamabad, one of the US makers of F-16 fighter jets, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics has made an open attempt to mollify India after concerns were raised by New Delhi.

Over the F-16 deal with Pakistan, Lockheed Martin has told TIMES NOW that New Delhi's concerns are unwarranted because the F-16s being provided to India are far superior to the ones being given to Pakistan.

Speaking to TIMES NOW, Orville Prins, Vice President, Business Development-India, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics said India has no need for concern. The super viper for India is the most advanced version of the F16s and that it meets and exceeds all of India's Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft requirements.

The assurance from the US makers comes after a similar one was given by the US Ambasador to India, Timothy Romer.

India's concerns

It is reported that earlier this year when the Indian foreign secretary was in Washington there were concerns raised. Pakistan F-16 with laser-guided bomb kits besides other sophisticated equipment will give Pakistan an edge over India.

Also, that armed drones like 'Predators' asked by Pakistan will be used against India and will change equations in the region.

I thnk these are ex-Pakistan f-16's from peace gate 3 or 4 which were along with US navy and i heard ex-ACM Tanveer Mahmood's interview in which he said we are trying to get back our f-16 which are with US navy and um convincing them that these are my planes and were build for us

Please every one dont let your self carried away in emotional flood.

Number one, Is there going to be a sudden change in our faith after purchase of Israeli euipment, world goes for diplomacy and gets their purposes served. India is also going for USA which always supported Pakistan against it in past. Israel is ready to mantain relations with a country that turned down its air force and took away their self proclaimed medal of world's invincible airforce.


i dunno why every one's brain works like a one way road.We have to strengthen our defence and why not to take it other way round.!!! It can also be said otherway, We are buying enemies high tech equipment to shoot back on them.lol

All the members here, no matter indians or Pakistanis. Lets get our brain working by removing this mythical blood clot of 100Billion dollars deal !!!

100$ Billion is a big money!! but not enough for other countries to write down their fates on.

For Israel as well their existence if of far more importance, they have always tried to create a relationship with Pakistan with many offers and diplomatic efforts.

And a relationship is always two way so its not only India which is just going to enjoy and other will be standing like a waiter to serve. funny how easily we all get carried away with media hypes and spices(mirch masala).
If Israel is a major supplier of India then of course India depends on it.
And if India is going to ignore US for Pakistani f-16s and Israel to offer military hardware to Pakistan then what is the option left !1

If it was merely the question of the contracted 18 F-16s, i doubt the Air Chief would have expressed it in the manner that US has agreed to supply 14 more aircraft, as for the former, he said the delivery will commence from June and will be completed by December this year.

Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said on Saturday that US agreed to supply 14 more F-16 jets fighters to Pakistan, Aaj News reported.



No where was mention about delivery of 14 F-16 by end of 2010
