Its not about the total manpower or the mortality rate of commandos in the world. A good commando unit is always ready to suffer. The best US commandos had also suffered a lot of casualities in its ongoing operatiuons in Iraq and Afghanistan,and in its countries. The main thing for a commando unit is its training,equipment and the motivation. SSG is a well trained commando organization and is well equiped.
According to my Analaysis and various data form different sites based on past records in varous operations :

1 Green Berets of US
2 SAS of UK
3 SSG of Pakistan

Operation Gibraltar ,Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 ,Soviet invasion of Afghanistan ,Siachen Glacier ,Kargil War,Operation Silence ,Counter Terrorism Operations ,United Nations Military missions,
War In Afghanistan
Their performance is extraordainry ,losses are low, equipped with modern arms like
Barrett M82, Finnish Steyr AUG, HK G3,Carbines FN P90 HK-MP5 Sub-machine gunsRheinmetall MG3HK PSG1,Dragunov SVD Semi-automatic rifles & POF eye system weapon.

This is certainly an unedifying thread based on some dubious source!

Ref. the underlined part; the SSG does not have great memories of those two operations, esp the 65 ops. It was disbanded after that and then re-formed.

About ranking the various commando forces of the world; we have to wait for something similar to ICC rankings for cricketers to be set up. Till then one can speculate...............
