    Post Relocating Armoured Corps Centre?

Pakistan Army has decided in principle to relocate the Armoured Corps Centre and school from Nowshera to Bahawalpur.

Heard this on Dawn News. There is no official version on this as of now. But i personally think it is a good move.

Good logical move. This also clears the way for any new dam!!!! Military now out of any future controversy on this.

That's exactly what was in my mind.

    @ Aamir Hussain

" Military now out of any future controversy on this."

The word you used, future, is very significant as it has many meanings. Nonetheless, the controversial past is missing in your post...

Apparently the decision was taken after the recent floods.

There was always this conspiracy theory, on the side lines, that Army was the real hindrance to anything concrete on the dam.

Those of us who were close to the military knew to the contrary.

These moves just paves the way for the eventual reservoir -- the need of the hour -- to be built.

You guys are senior to me and have contact in the Army, then can you please explain why PA only has one Corp in Balochistan close to the Afghan border' i.e. Quetta?

Why does the PA not have Corps at Gwadar or Pasni, as these are also places of strategics importance?

It seems that the Pakistan Army or the high command is not recognising the strategic shifts taking place in the region. You know, the whole of Gilgit-Baltistan is covered by Peshawar Corp, and Azad Kashmir by the Mangla Corp, the operational area is just too massive especially in the case of Balochistan, which is the biggest province in relation to land mass. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong in any thing?

Are you expecting a massive invasion from Iran?

Sindh,Punjab,Gilgit-Baltistan/Azad Kashmir etc bordered directly with India. Don't worry Army is strong

pre-1947, these were 'peaceful' locations. the other reason was the 'cooler' climate as compared to the plains - now the PA has grown and they require new larger training facilities. the other issue is the 'security' of the area - suicide attacks have taken place in places like mardan (Punjab Regt. center), Nowshera (AC & Artillery) etc. i am not clear on the 'dam'assumption - are we saying Nowshera will be under water if a dam is built!? - i wld also think at some point PAF Academy at Risalpur would move to a newer location.
