Default COLD START: WARM HANDS, COLD HEART

    By MastanKhan

Cold Start has been one of the biggest concerns of Pakistan's military and civilian government. The argument has been protracted for a while now and the Pakistani military has carried out many an exercise to counter this threat. At this stage the Pakistani military thinks that it has significant response capabilities to nullify the Indian Cold Start strike.

They could have been right if India had followed through with its military diktat, but unknown to the Pakistani military and civilian establishment, the Indian military changed its strategy and game plan right in mid-stride. The Cold Start doctrine that initially constituted a military strike at requisite targets took a shape and form of totally different nature that was not known to our military, which incidentally is extremely rigid in its approach and analysis.

Sorry to say but this is just another conspiracy theory - RAW-CIA-MOSSAD targeting Pakistan - type.

No proof of any Indian involvement has been given till date to India/US/UN or any other international agencies.

This may be a theory, even a plausible one at that, but just a theory and not a fact.

So does Mastan Khan say that India is waging an indirect war against Pakistan through diplomatic, economic and covert means (read TTP and BLF)?? Never thought he would say this!!!!

If this is the case then why haven't the Armed forces noticed this under current?? leave aside reacting. Why is it that the India Pakistan relations are getting better recently on various fronts and there is no opposition from the Armed forces??

I don't think that unrelated incidents can be grouped and said that , the cold start actually was a covert war not an overt one. Can't buy this paranoid logic. Sir Mastan expected better from you.

True. I don't deny it outright like others. There is a possibility that this might be true

But proofs are needed for me to believe it.

I think the real point MastanKhan is trying to get across is for Pakistan to change course and realize that its economy must take precedence.

An excellent article by Mastan Khan ... It has the words which I have in my mind since last 3 to 4 years but I was unable to express ... but I can analyse the whole situation ... it actually present around us even here at defence.pk I/We can notice them waging information war and in a few threads I asked other members to avoid them as we know that this forum is quiet respectable in world ... in google search we found a lot of search results associated with defence.pk ... Their is also a practical example comes recently in the name of cricket corruption the whole pro India ICC board has gone after Pakistani cricketers and meanwhile they have ignored an incident of similar kind in Sri Lanka and later we saw Indian former cricketer and board member chanting something which has been refused by ICC's so called respectable body ... and now the very nobel Mr. Haroon Logart is advocating to introduce gambling in cricket WOW ...
Well these things are happening from years but why they suddenly wake up now ... They were all framed in their own game ... and it has been used against Pakistan and People of Pakistan for false propaganda ... its the part of warfare and the beauty of this way is you never get caught ... any way this is just a lay man example to make things understandable ...

Is it not possible that the peace overtures being given a green light by the Army ARE the realization of what has been happening and focusing on that front...

That really seems to be MK's main point IMO too. But taking on the the point that MK has put in about "paid vendors et. al. MK needed to put that in more to package his treatise in a more palatable form to "some quarters". But be that as it may, let me put across a contrapunto. India did not (or even does not) have to exert itself too much to pursue that course of action. Simply because they are too many "uncontrollably centrifugal forces" acting within Pakistan. And alarmingly many of them are part of the establishment and even wear uniform!

As I opined in an (earlier post) on another thread, we seem to be watching a "wrestling match" where the members of one (supposedly same) team are constantly circling each other, waiting and hoping to wrest the other(s) to the ground, and by any means at that! And there is'nt even any referee (or is the referee also become one of the combatants/adversaries?).
Taking all that into account, does India even have to work too hard??!!

About "Cold Start" itself; is it real or is it a "phantom"?. Is it a "phantom of an opera that does'nt exist". Us common folks might get to know that later.

Just leaving "Cold Start" or even "Hot Roast Potatoes" aside for the time being, I'd just like to say one thing. And this is for you, MK and VCheng (anybody else who cares). One greatly different thing that India has consciously done over the years (since 1947) is to keep a very tight control (a leash one might say) on the Military establishment. And that has been one of India's greatest strengths in the long run. Why was it done? Khaki uniforms were the medium used to control and even subjugate the general population during the Raj. That discomfort (one might even say suspicion) continued for some time. That is the reason why India did what it did. Now that is the real reason why India has been able to work on an economic, social and political agenda. Though it is still an largely unfinished agenda, it has taken off and nobody really will be able to derail it leave alone turn it around. So finally "warm stomachs and bodies" have gained primacy over Cold Starts.

First one must have some worthwhile property to protect, then only one needs to find a strong Chowkidar. And later arm the Chowkidar as requred. But all the while ensuring that the Chowkidar is in no position to take over the property!

p.s. VCheng, that Chowkidar bit had some inspiration from one of your posts.
p.p.s. I have had some acquaintance with "uniforms" in India, and yet I agree with what has happened.

Exactly my thoughts, only I am derided for applying the same thinking to Pakistan's Army, which I agree with 100%

I am a patriot, but I also THINK logically.

I think some Pakistani friends give too much credit to Indian policy making babus.. The level of plots within plots this theory has seems right out of a Robert Ludlum / Tom clancy novel.

I personally think the dice fell in place for India by luck in this case and some of Pakistan's internal policies backfired to lead Pakistan to the state it is in today.. An thread called Monkey trap starting with an article which is 10 years old gives a great account of it..

Ref the underlined, Santro; I wish that is true. Because then there will be some possibilty of salvation; not least of all for the Army itself. Especially considering these "ever interesting times".

But will that not throw the Army in to the throes of another conundrum/contradiction?
