This Chinese article is referring to the Jinnah Naval Base at Ormara. Pakistan Navy has a small presence at Gwadar and does not necessarily need a smaller 'base' in between these two ports. JNB is going to be the PRIME Navy base in the next 10 years or so where PN moves all of its warships and other assets their. The JNB is a superb base where almost all jetties/ piers are ready and the approach canal can accommodate submarines and deep hull battleships alike.

First we need to fix the Baloch problem. Gwadar is useless we cannot use it as a Hub to transport goods into Afghanistan and China and Central Asia. The BLA will keep blowing up rail links which will hinder foreign nationals to use Gwadar as a port.

That needs to be resolved.

Second, once that is resolved, we can allow the Chinese to setup a Naval Base in Gwadar and station a Chinese Air Craft Carrier in the future.

That will prevent India from any stupid adventures into Pakistan but make sure Chinese presence is not enough to threaten the US 5th fleet in Bahrain.

They should have done that at some years back along with three mega shipyards as well.

Chinese presence will generate a healthy competition between the Pakistani port of gwadar and Iranian port of Chahbahar....and will be beneficial to baloch people in Iranian Balochistan and Pakistan's Balochistan.

after 1971 it is sad that KARACHI port is still OUR ONLY MAJOR PORT!! we never learnt our lesson in 71 & and after 99 kargil! sad that we are still doing "feasibilty" study!
