1. "Scheduled" or "assumed"
2. PLA/PLAN/PLAAF are dramatically shifting away from large number military, seeking qualitative gains.
3. Why assume a replacement rato fo almost 1:2? Why not 1:4? After all, the Type 056 is about 4 times the size of the Type 037...

This is the same that PAF, PN and PA should do. Like PN should go for 21 SSKs rather than 14, 15 F-22Ps and 11 2500 ton multi mission corvettes. Not with N-Subs as they are nosiy as well.

I think you are getting confused with the numbers.

Type 54 replaces type 53 and these are heavier Frigates, ( 4300 ton Displacement ). These almost compete with the 6000+ ton destroyers.

The four F22-P's pakistan recently acquired are smaller Frigates ( 2500 ton Displacement ).

The Type 056 is a Corvette ( Corvettes are smaller than Frigates ) and has 1500 ton Displacement.

This corvette would be ideal for PN or Pakistan Coast Gaurd for lighter duties.

However, since Pakistan Navy just signed to purchase 4 more Frigates it is unlikely that it will have the budget to buy large number of Corvettes. If it did it will buy no more than 4 at this time and that too if they can be produced in Pakistan to save cost.

I think you misunderstood: China will need replacement for both Type 051 Luda and older 053 (Jianghu). Some of that will be covered by Type 052C, some by 054A and some by 056, which will also replace some if not all Type 037 subchasers.

I think you misunderstood: China will need replacement for both Type 051 Luda and older 053 (Jianghu). Some of that will be covered by Type 052C, some by 054A and some by 056, which will also replace some if not all Type 037 subchasers.

Again 052C and following updated models will replace 051s, 054A replaces the old models of 053 and 056 is to replace 037. There are 2 shipyards building 054A and 4 building 056.

Type 056 light frigate is the first modularized model in the Navy. It can be easily modified to focus on different tasks (and maritime surveillance and fishery patrol ship as well).

Again, imho, it remains to be seen if 056 will be buillt in the numbers you are suggesting.
It would in effect be 'old school' PLAN. I expect the new PLAN to have smaller numbers but larger and better quality ships. 80+ Type 056 do not fit in that pattern...

Right now, about 150 type 037 are in service in PLAN, they are old and need to be replaced. Even in the ratio 2:1, we will need 75 type 056.
Type 056 will be built at the speed of 4-6 per year at first and much faster later for more than a decade.
Remember the fact that China will always have things in large number, including tanks, fighters, warships and population. So don't be surprised by any number that China claimed to build. We say it and we mean it.

You've already able to build F-22p, it'll be a piece of cake for you to build type 056.
The design can be easily changed to fill Pakistan needs.

Guys 4 more f22p are the deal for 2012 budget... whilst in coming years there will be more deal... slow and steady is navy procuring. and with this navy budget it is good procurment... Type 056 or 1500 ton corvette are only for light duties whereas if war emits they are not even a fair punch... F22p's that PN is getting are far different from type 53h3 or so... because it features capabilities of small derivative version of type 54A class frigate... SAM HQ-9 ..
