Default US scientists express concern over Pak nuclear assets

"The Federation of American Scientists has again expressed concern over Pakistan’s nuclear assets.

According to the Federation of American Scientists report, Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are at greater risk due to the emergence of powerful militant groups with links to the country’s security services.

The report said that many western quarters firmly believe that militants are capable to reach Pakistan nuclear assets.

The report was supposed to be brought out at the end of the year but it was released earlier in the wake of Osama Bin Laden’s killing and the ongoing concerns about Pakistan’s alleged links with terrorist organisations targeting the US interests."

The IAEA doesn't have any concerns, but US scientists do. I wonder why......

Good point. Could be a similar pretext to go inside Pakistan, but I don't think that's really an issue. Whatever US scientists might think, the IAEA thinks Pakistan's nuclear weapons are safe & secure. Let them think whatever they want to.

now even their scientists are after your nukes! hahaha! By golly! Looks like Uncle Sam has really drawn some attention. And to be honest, the Mehran attack actually got the world more worried than anything else. Had that not happened, nobody would have found any excuse to point fingers at you lot.

What did the Mehran attack have to do with Pakistan's nukes? Ever heard of the Fort Hood attack here in the US?

The genie is out of the bottle, the nukes are not as important, it is the infrastructure and the knowledge that is important - that can't ever be rolled back, we tend to get a bit too paranoid about this, our nukes are here to stay, and with a couple of new Pu reactors and new reprocessing facilities it is becoming stronger and more sophisticated.

Man US has gone really haywire. Its not the job of scientist to express concerns over something they have no clue of because frankly its not their field of expertise. Making random accusations does not mean that they are true but then again its the US of A we are talking about.......the brightest of all man kind

The FAS is an NGO and does not set U.S. government policies. More usually they are opposed to them. link
