What benefit do tac nukes accrue to Pakistan if your adversary treats them as regular nukes.
Why do Pakistanis always assume that India will abide by their rules of the game. This has been one constant flaw in Pakistani planning in each of their wars and has resulted in not so pleasant scenarios for them...and yet they make the SAME assumptions every time.

Even in this case, they assume that tac nukes on Pakistani soil would destroy the advancing Indian column and make India pause giving Pakistan time to force international community to stop the war.

India has stated that any nuclear attack on Indian forces in any theater will be treated as a full scale nuclear attack on India.
If Pakistan has to fire tac nukes, it might as well fire strategic nukes...because India will consider them the same.

On the topic : Neither us nor the Indians are going to use it for obvious reasons ! Having said that Pakistan does seem to have plans for operational tactical nukes...I don't know whether India does or doesn't, but if she doesn't then yes...we'd probably would have made some decent, if not significant, inroads into that field !

Indian Nuke doctrine is define on NFU but it will retalliate in massive attack even if a nuke is setup ny the terror groups.

Hi, among all the tasteless threads, this one has to rank up there.

How is having more nukes going to help Pakistan with its current problems at hand? There are two insurgencies raging in Pakistan, no law and order, no power, no water, and no revenue to pay its loans back, to name a few. Pakistan needs to realize, its current threats lie from within, not outside.

The only reason we also hear of the USA wanting to snatch Pakistan's nukes, is due to the lack of law and order.

lol , India is much more bigger then PAK, do you think India will sit idle and kept that happening , before that it will wipe out Pak from massive vole of nuclear missile , and dead man don't launch missile, India has ABM also , it can protect it cities.

It will take a while for Pak to realise that investing in nukes may have been a necessity a decade ago but its inability to take it to the next step by creating a stable environment within itself & in so doing in the region has led to to undoing of the advantage gained.

Today , by emulating India it has created nukes , spent on delivery systems and so on. But the real & present threat is not India - its the out of control hardliners within . Nukes are worthless against them.

All an adversary needs to do is to focus on the religious fundamentalists inside Pak who threaten the nukes, threaten Pak and act as a force multiplier .

Therefore, nukes are good upto a point but one needs to button up the ' other options' an adversary has which makes the nukes redundant or a while elephant.

Sure, India too has disgruntled elements whom Pak tries to shore up but they are nowhere close to threatening the nation as those in Pak do.

Actually the Phobia of India will attack them, is used by their leaders to come to power. Where as thousands are killed in their own country. India started focusing on its internal threats along with Pakistan. Nukes have lost the significance in today's world when enemy countries have them.

The Indian threat is not a phobia, and only Nawaz Sharif bluffs about the bombs to promote himself in politics (that too, against US, not India).

Only the nukes prevent that threat to materialize in 1999, 2002 and 2008.
Nukes have lost significance among the countries who have assured each other the MAD scenario. This is not the case with Pakistan and India. India still thinks it can go into a limited war scenario while Pakistan's military aims to bring the nukes in while keeping the conflict limited.
