Default Four armed Americans intercepted, released

Hmm.. wheels within wheels or are some people ' more equal" than the rest ?

Four armed Americans intercepted, released | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online

PESHAWAR – NWFP Police intercepted four armed Americans here at a police check-post on Sunday but let them go after the mighty guests (Americans) approached police high-ups to secure their immediate release.

According to official sources, police team deputed at a check-post on Ring Road, Hayatabad, intercepted four Americans riding in two Land Cruisers. Upon searching, the team spotted unlicensed sophisticated weapons in their custody.

The sources informed that Americans tried to make their way out forcibly but police team took hold of them.

To the shock of police personnel, duty officer leading the team at the check-post received a call, perhaps from one of the higher authorities of NWFP Police, on his cell phone and let the American go with their illegal weapons.

When contacted, a police official requesting anonymity confirmed the incident. “Yes, the same incident was reported in vicinity of Hayatabad Police Station, however I am not allowed to unveil details,” he said.

This correspondent tried several times to contact US Consulate, however the call was not attended.

Armed and forcibly tried to make their way out but the brave security forces of Pakistan put those yanks in their place.

First class work and world-class reporting too. Not a HINT of bias in this report. Not one, single, solitary, hint.

Still, our nuclear reconnaissance teams made their getaway...

Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries for foreigners and diplomats.

And thus they need protection and thus the need for Armed Bodyguards and Security personnel.

There is no vast conspiracy. Using common sense helps sometimes.

I being in Peshawar have the privilege to see these Americans drive on daily basis in their Armored SUVs and just wish I had something to blow their arses to hell but unfortunately the time hasn't come to that yet.

And the very strange thing is that among all the VIEDs blasts, suicide blasts and IED blasts in and around Peshawar, not a single attack has happened on these American mercenaries roaming freely, especially going to and passing through those areas which have seen many attacks on Pakistani LEAs. They are clearly recognizable and they travel in broad day light, I wonder why in the dozens of attacks by TTP thugs which killed more then 500 people in Peshawar during last few months, not one blast or not even a single bullet was fired on these American mercenaries.

TTP says they are for Jihad against Americans, yet they fail to hit one American SUV filled with Americans, I wonder why.

I believe supporting your assumption with some facts would be good before you put in the allegation. How any diplomats got killed in Pakistan or in Peshawar that we need Aerican mercenaries to protect?? Can't the diplomats limit their wasteful going outs ??

What we see in Peshawar is different, there are no foreign diplomats in huge numbers to be protected, and these Americans travel alone, not escorting any diplomats.

Yeah the common sense that guys like you show by sitting somewhere else has to be different then the ones who see these SUVs filled with Americans passing daily infront of their homes and seeing them drive like drunks putting in danger ordinary peoples life at stake.

And let me tell you one other thing, just at the outer boundary of Peshawar with the tribal agency, there is a small mountainous range, where Americans have a base, not allowing any Pakistani in, just like the Sihala Police College. And what it is being used for, well that's a secret.

People here in Pakistan are not stupids, the sudden increase of Americans in last few months roaming the roads is not a healthy sign, this war has been going on for 8 years, diplomats were at that time at risk as much as now, protecting them is no excuse.

American "Mercenaries" are protecting American Diplomats mostly or some European Diplomats hired by them. And thats why the attacks on foreigners have mostly been concentrated on Chinese and Iranians.

And how do you know that there aren't any foreign diplomats in Peshawar?

And how do you know that these Americans travel alone? Do they forward you a memo as who they will be transporting?

Loooooooooooooooolz.....So your argument has boiled down to the fact that Americans drive dangerously since you have ZERO allegations of any incidents liking them.

Buddy, driving in Pakistan is dangerous. And to evade any potential attackers they have to drive that way. Its basic security protocols.

Most likely an intelligence hub to launch drone attacks which have been devastatingly effective.

That is because the TTP declared open war on Pakistan and started to move deeper into Pakistani heartland. Did you hear of massive bombings in Pakistani cities on a daily occurance in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006?

No. The **** hit the ceiling after the Lal Masjid fiasco and then they launched the all out attack and thus the need for protection of diplomats who are pumping money into building schools, combating drugs and child soldiers, etc.....

They will be taken down so badly…just wait….

Let people play their game..God is playing His game..

I support American actions in Pakistan….

I am a true Pakistani…I supported their actions because there was a reason…don’t take me wrong…

    (1) If as Taimikhan says these "Americans" may be seen every day in their SUV's with their illegal weapons, why is it so hard for the Pakistani press to find out who they are, where they live and what they are doing? Can't the Pakistani press follow them? doesn't Pakistan have ANY investigative reporters who dig out crucial facts?

    (2) We don't know that the weapons that were seen were unlicensed or illegal anyway. Isn't it likely that the PA has "approved" the possession of these weapons, hence, they are "legal"?

Liberal or otherwise, they're our largest, best-resourced news mediums and enjoy access virtually everywhere. Besides, bluntly, their overseas international reporting is the best in America and those reporters work their azzes off to do a good job.
