To understand why there is shortage of electricity, gas and petrol in Pakistan i am woundring how it is in Afghanistan,Iran,India,Srilanka and Bangladesh. Also what are price. For me seems to our leaders want us live like that so they can be kings in there area

For Electricity, we have been completing many projects (Thermal, Hydro, Nuclear and so on). By 2020, Our all Electricity problem will be be solved. Even today, Most of the cities don't have any major electricity problem. We are improving for last 20 years which is showing result now and more in future.

As far as Gas, Petrol. We are Net Buyer from Middle-East. so, that is more to do with price and not our capacity or anything.

Pakistan electricity problem is due to mis-management, No proper planning, corruption, etc.

First shortage has to be defined the same as what we mean in Pakistan, since there might come misunderstandings. Shortage is as like Pakistan mean, regular black outs throughout the day some times for many hours more so in rural areas. Shortage for liquid fuels means you can not get the fuel despite being ready to pay for it as per market prices. Gas shortage is like when the gas in the pipe disappears and might not return for hours.

i live in New Delhi and we have have 24/7 power supply once in a while we do have power failure but that too only for couple of hours if there is no major fault !!

and same is the case of Bombay..as i have been born and brought up there..things have improved much in last 10 years...!!

Indians pay probably the highest petrol prices in the world adjusted on a purchase power basis.

From last 4 years we have 24 hours electricity in Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Badghis, Samangan, Sar-e-pol, Baghlan, Jalalabad, Helmand, Kandahar and some other cities and provinces but the rest of provinces of Afghanistan has electricity only for 3 to 5 hours at night, 1 unit of electricity cost us 6 AFN ($0.12) in Kabul.

There is no particular supply of gas via pipes to houses but gas to people are supplied by private companies on a phone call and they fill a 11 KG cylinder for 600 AFN ($12.5).

My last petrol fuel-up was 58 AFN/litre ($1.20).

There is no shortage of fuel in Pakistan provided you are willing to pay high price of it is short and even then it is very rare for petrol to be short in market.Petrol is available abundantly (CNG is usually not available due to the fact that Government can't supply enough of it to to Pumps as they have to supply gas to Industries also). There is no shortage of GAS (home) in Pakistan in summers but in winters the intensity of gas decreases so basically what happens is that the flame you get has very low intensity so it gives less heat but even that is rare..However such issues do exist in far off areas where there are no proper gas connections.Karachi however suffers from 8-10 hours load shedding hence pretty much everyone got UPS there with inverter batteries..(Not straight 8-10 hours it usually divided in 24 hours..)

Well the part of India where my family is from we never had any power shortage. In Gujarat no one uses generators. There is 24/7 electricity.

But patrol is definitely expensive. It's like 54-55 INR/litre I think. And gas is also very expensive it's like 700 INR for a cylinder. [Maybe 10-15 kgs of LPG.]

Its actually quite Difficult to explain

As far as Electricity is concerned , well we do have power cuts but mainly during peak Summers but they are only about 3-4 Hrs a day during Daytime and that too in small Towns , in Big cities Power cuts have been unheard of in last 5-6 yrs
Thats manly becoz We make full use of Our installed capacity of 175 GW , while Pakistan only used about half of its installed capacity of 20 GW

There is no Oil and Gas shortage in India
LPG cost about 400 INR for 14 Kg cylinder while Diesel cost about 40 INR , Petrol is the main irritant costing about 68 INR a Litre

Oil coal and gas is discovering us instead of we looking to discover them.the most basic problem with pakistan is the incompetence of government the looters pirates criminals and killers are ruling pakistan and the day we get rid of them we will get electricity gas oil and everything.God is giving us everything but we are ignorant people we ignore it.enemy is trying to demoralize us and make us confused and they are plotting and planning against but they dont know Allah is the biggest planner.they try to sanction us and refined oil which can be used as petrol and kerosine oil is coming out of the ground.we produce everything we can feed our popluation

petrol is now 74 INR and gas is at 375 INR . we do have shutdowns in residential areas but not in the commercial areas often . also shutdown does not last for more then an hour.

in india all shortages are mostly artificial...petrol prices are now touching new heights and it is because of all the extra taxes that are applied on it...and as we all know when petrol prices go up then price of everything shoots..
