ISLAMABAD: The Saudi government while accepting the request of the government of Pakistan has decided to release five members of a Pakistani family arrested on charges of possessing drugs.

Addressing a news conference at his residence in Islamabad today, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that the innocent Pakistani family is finally being released by the Saudi Arabian government.

The minister said that a three-member FIA team along with the Interior Ministry would travel to Saudi Arabia after Eid to prepare travel documents of the family for their return to Pakistan.

The Minister said the real culprits of this case, Sarwat Hussain and his wife are already in custody while another individual Abdul Jabbar Tunio is still at large. Malik said the arrested would be tried under Pakistani law and they will not be handed over to Saudi Arabia.

The Minister said that the release had been made possible and expedited with the help of Saudi Prince Muhammad Bin Naif.
