Is this news worth a thread?

That must be a normal regular practice, isn't it?

No Mass marriages are not a common regular practice.

This is significant because mass marriages are realy a fresh breath of air because it not only facilitate both sides in terms of spending but also do away with extra unwanted functions which otherwise are a burden on Pakistanis keeping in view the rising inflation.

On the other hand i Do not know if this time any one from India was also wed in this ceremony but last year 20 Couples from India visited Pakistan and knot the tie in similar mass marriage function.

i like this kind of ceremony.

The trend has been started sometimes back in Pakistan

There are loads of Muslim mass marriages arranged here in India.

There is a competition on the issue on days like birthdays of political leaders. Many of these ceremonies have been arranged for the sake of making a national record. Many by NGOs. Not only that, the couples are gifted with home utensils, couple of ornaments and some hard cash or a saving scheme certificate, which would pay them later, when in need.

I guess this is enough to believe that Muslim community is safe and respected in India.

PS : Recently, say a couple of months ago, a mass marriage of record 101 Muslim couples was arranged in my town. They were from all over the district. A busy day for town.

    .
Same is going on here in Pakistan.

Mass marriages are good in a way that it decrease the finencial burden on the couples.

here too in mass marriages in this one too the Bride is given free Gold ornaments, free dowry, all the arrangments are free as well as meal for the guests. cash etc.

i feel its a better way to do away with extra functions.

for me the unique thing is that last year 20 Indian couples also tied the knot in Karachi in a similar mass marriage.

Is this practice legal in Pakistan? We've banned it from ages. (I accept this happens in more concealed ways.)

But free dowry to bride in mass marriage? Unbelievable!!

Dont you think so if we start debating the dowry issue India would be the one to get more bashing as despite ban this is getting lives of too any women. The practice is also banned Pakistan here but some sick minded people specially Punjab is plauged with this.

Now please dont ruine my good thread

yes free because most of the couples are not well off and these marriages are arranged by civil society organisations and well off people besides welfare organisations.

^^ Come on, that was a pure curiosity.

I mean, if the dowry practice is banned, how they can publicly give 'free dowries'?

Please take note that I never even remotely said India has eliminated the problem. Can't we have a healthy chat? Or you wish everything to be goody-goody on your thread?

You know it very well what you meant so nevermind.

What does a ban means in a country like India and Pakistan? Nothing.

India as well as Pakistan has banned many things but the practice is still going on so nothing to wonder.

On the other hand we also have some organisations which offers Jahaz fund (dowry fund ) but only for marriages of girls/females.

The families that could not afford to bear the expenses of marrying off their daughters can contact these organisations who provides all the basic household goods needed for living but also give cash for other arrangments.

But you have to show them the marriage certificate afterwards as a proof that you have used the funds for the same purpose.

BTW in mass marriages they dont call it dowry but they call it a Gift for the Bride hence you can see in a way they avoide violating the ban

And what about opposition? Don't they bash the govt?

On this side, opposition comes with foolish and childish issues if they don't have something solid. Such practice in India will mean blunder for ruling party. God knows when they gonna be matured!!

    Wayyy to go Pakistan

If only it could have happened before I got married. Would have been great to get married without mass expenditure and to honeymoon in a country where you haven't been before
