Human rights group: Hamas disinters Christians in Gaza

Every three minutes a Christian is being tortured in the Muslim world, and in 2009 more than 165,000 Christians will have been killed because of their faith, most of them in Muslim countries, according to a human rights organization that is visiting Israel starting Sunday.

Majed El Shafie, who will head a delegation of human rights activists, members of parliament from Canada and religious personalities at the Van Leer Institute inJerusalem.

"Hamas digs up the bodies of Christians from Christian burial sites in the Gaza Strip claiming that they pollute the earth," said Reverend Majed El Shafie, President of One Free World International (OFWI), who will head a delegation of human rights activists, members of parliament from Canada and religious personalities.

During their visit to Israel the delegation will hold a conference on human rights and persecuted minorities at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem. The conference will provide new statistics on the persecution of minorities in Muslim countries.

El Shafie said that between 200-300 million Christians are being persecuted in the world, 80 percent of whom lived in Muslim countries and the rest in communist and other countries.

Members of the delegation will meet with Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon and Mayor ofJerusalem Nir Barkat in the hope of enlisting Israel to champion their cause.

OFWI is a human rights organization whose headquarters are located in Toronto, Canada. The organization numbers some 3,000 members, divided into 28 branches that are active in countries all over the world, including Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and even Iran.

El Shafie, 32, was born in Cairo to a distinguished Muslim family of lawyers and judges. Through a Christian friend he was exposed at an early age to hatred toward the Christian minority in Egypt.

He decided to convert to Christianity, wrote a book about it and as a result became an outcast and a victim of oppression.

In 1998 he was arrested, imprisoned, tortured and condemned to death.

El Shafie managed to escape, fled to the Sinai, where a Beduin family hid him for two months, and crossed the Israeli border on a jet-ski. Hewas arrested in Israel and was imprisoned for over a year in Beersheba, until he was released through the assistance of the UN, Amnesty International and the International Christian Embassy inJerusalem, which managed to obtain political asylum for El Shafie in Canada, where he emigrated. He founded OFWI in 2004.

It is pretty clear that the historical Christian communities in Muslim majority nations are gradually being extinguished. There were hundreds of Christian sects and communities scattered over Africa and the Middle East that formed in the centuries after Jesus but before Mohammad. Most have been wiped out or pressured into a subservient existence by the Muslim majorities. Ironically, the creation of Israel, engendering Muslim anger at "the West", has hastened the extinction of these indigenous communities.

Hundreds, thousands of Muslims including Women, Children, Elderly get killed mercilessly, mosques get attacked and destroyed, Ban on constructing minarets of mosques are slapped, nuns can wear their full religious gear covering from head to tow while Muslims gets banned wearing their religious dress code covering them from head to tow, all such things are justified but when one Christian or Jew gets killed or gets a bad treatment, Muslims become the terrorists or the oppressors and whole world media starts vilifying Muslims.

So called western democracy and their freedom of speech & human rights, can't find bigger example of hypocrisy then this.

Even a death is sad and condemnable.

But there is another side of coin.

The missionaries are always unfair to the natives and huge number of western people historically have treated natives.

Muslims are not aliens but media hypes every wrong of a muslim individual and hides the wrong actions of Christians. If a individual muslim found killing a person they says a jehadi or islamic terrorist but if a australian attacks a indian they don't say it's racist christian.

Hitler was also ultra orthodox christen thats why he killed jews but they tag him as nazi or bad only because he challenge britishers etc. but don't highlight his christian identity.

Christian missionaries have done and are doing many ill tactics and involve in defaming native religions like Islam/Hinduism/Buddhist etc. but they get away with everything.

There you go again, here you don't introspect you accuse. I would be up for a frank introspection. Look into your own constitution and compare it with ours or any other western countries. You will find the answer. And for a gujrat there is a 26/11 for a godhra there is 9/11 and many stories as mentioned in the above article so i am not intrested in a mud slinging match brother, its you who is doing this without contesting the argument i raised.

The constitution is irrelevant when facts on the ground do not match up. Lots of countries have laws about everything, but the question is how/if they are enforced, and do the people follow the spirit of the law?

You did not point out that innocent Muslims face discrimination, torture, and abuse (under the guise of GWOT) in non-Muslim countries. You did not point out that all religions are guilty of abuse. You did not point out that Israel is modelled after apartheid-era South Africa, institutionalizes religious bigotry in its very consttitution (Law of Return), and is one of the worst offenders in terms of ethnic cleansing.
