@Sandy,
I know Musharraf used the wrong choice of words. He is not very adept like politicians are.
But it is a malicious distortion to say that Musharraf was implying that he would 'use' OBL against Americans. Watch the interview again: He is saying that had he known where OBL was then he would capitalize on that for himself--capturing or killing him and looking like a giant hero of the world--instead of letting the next govt. take the credit. That would almost certainly have assured a few more years of Presidency of Pakistan. Why not kill two birds with one stone?
What did you think he is saying here: Take OBL to the Presidency and hide in a bunker and dine with him and discuss global politics while drinking some Black Label?
As to those who are talking about peace with India not possible I think they may eat their words before too long. Musharraf is on record to have said the Kashmir is the 'only' major dispute between the two countries. He and Manmohan came fairly close to settling/shelving the dispute. We need to pick up from there. I think the rest of the pieces of the puzzle will fall in place, including these proxy wars and intelligence driven wars. There is no other choice for the two countries. India does have good growth--and so did Pakistan barely 5 years ago. But sky is the limit when there is peace.
We really need to give peace a chance. Let's not suspect the other beyond reason. We need to start talking about the scenarios of give and take on Kashmir, establish red lines, formulate projections for the enormous 'peace dividends' to follow. Pakistan's reliance on foreign powers will also great diminish once peace is established. In the end, I believe, we will HAVE to live with India and vice versa. Make it now instead of 50 years down the road.
Pakistan would be ok with Imran Khan and Musharif Sahib to guide us thru this mess
