Thackeray wants suicide squads to fight terror

NEW DELHI Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has advocated the formation of Hindu suicide squads to fight the scourge of 'Islamic terrorism', Times Now reported. ( Watch )

In a controversial editorial in the Sena's mouthpiece -- Saamna -- he has called calls for the formation of such squads.

Thackeray, in the editorial, says, "The threat of Islamic terror in India is rising. It is time to counter the same with Hindu terror. Hindu suicide squads should be readied to ensure existence of Hindu society."

The article adds, "When I heard of Hindu's making bombs, I was happy but the fact that there were used to injure Hindus made me feel ashamed of them."

The observation came in reference to the Hindu group alleged to have been behing the recent bomb blasts at a theatre in Thane.

He has been criticised by the RSS this time, which has said that Hindu scriptures give no sacntion for terrorist activities.

This is not the first time that Thackeray has called for the formation of such suicide squads.

New Delhi, June 18: Disapproving of Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray's comments about creation of ‘Hindu suicide squads’, the BJP on Wednesday advised its ally to respect the law.

"People should not take law into their hands. It is the duty of the government to counter terror," BJP Vice President Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in New Delhi.

Advising Thackeray to respect the law, he said BJP believes in democracy and the Constitution.

He was commenting on Thackeray's statement in the party mouthpiece Saamna in which he had said that there should be ‘Hindu suicide squads’ to counter Muslim fundametalists and terrorists.

Thackeray is an idiot. It is ironic that he is calling to embrace the very thing that has wrecked his so called enemies. Also, am I the only one wondering how Hindu suicide bombers are supposed to counter the threat of Islamic terror

Jana has posted a very good article, point being extremists in all religions including Hinduism, will call for suicide bombings, should this be their only outlet to overcome a perceived threat.

Bal Thackeray isn't a religious leader. He has got no scriptural authority in Hinduism.

He hasn't even got mass support.

The BJP and RSS do have mass support, which are at this very moment openly expressing shock at his statements.

Bal Thackeray is a Hindu political leader that in his own mind is trying to fight what he sees as an external threat. This is much the same as the philosophy of a MINORITY of "Muslims". Playing with words does not prove your point.

One can hardly say Thackeray and his views do not have mass support, when he's elected by the Maharashtrian people.

Afaik, Thackeray has been involved in instigating killings on the base of racial/religious beliefs, something which you perhaps could compare with the likes of the Taliban, though there are doubts over whether the Taliban actually did this also.

I can imagine how one could do such a thing. Laughing this off as a joke won't get you very far. If one wanted to, he himself could attach a small explosive to himself, walk into a Mosque and blow up the Mosque. Mission accomplished.
