ISLAMABAD: The opposition on Wednesday moved the Senate seeking an in-house debate on the sale of national land to the United States for building a military base near Tarbela.

Leader of the nine-senator Independent Group in the Upper House Prof Khurshid Ahmad submitted an adjournment motion to the Senate Secretariat in this connection. Senator Khurshid, who also heads Jamaat-e-Islami’s legislators in the Senate, strongly condemned the sale of the land to the US army and termed it an act of treason.

In the motion, he expressed his resentment on the claim of Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen that the US had purchased the piece of land only 20 kilometres away from the federal capital.

LOLOLOLOLOL. I was watching this interview of the FC general the other day on Aaj TV and he said that no one is training the FC and that the only 'training' that is being hyped up on the media is technical in nature in regards to the new equipment that the FC is procuring and that too on a small scale for Army teams who in turn will train the majority of the FC.

These people are therefore trying to interfere in military matters just to look important and gain some cheap political scoring.

Around 300 US troops are stationed in Tarbela in Pakistan Headquarters Special Operations Task Force (SOTF). They are present there as "Training Advisory Group" but actually they are looking after their operations of WOT.

Well, you can are not exactly 'buying' anything, more like renting it, and the rent might not be forever. But its cool...

P.S. Probably not even that, Pakistani politicans are not exactly the most reliable source around.

Like I said, I am responding to the article and the article says "selling". If the article says "rent" or "lease" or whatever, my response would be different.

I don't believe it either, but my response is accordingly.
