ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani held a meeting with the out-going Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha on Saturday, DawnNews reported.

During the meeting, the prime minister praised Pasha’s efforts in the war against terrorism.

The ISI chief told Gilani that his services will always be available for the country in future.


Gen Pasha will retire after heading the spy agency for over three years on March 18.

The government has appointed Lt Gen Zahir ul Islam as the next head of the agency.

He could have got an extension very easily if he wanted. Army officers (with experience b/w 23-30 yrs) have already stated that Pakistan Army do NOT have any 3-star officer more capable than Lt. Gen. Pasha. Plus, Pasha is very close to Gen. Kayani. Eve General (R) Musharraf suggested an extension for him.

Forced retired? I had heard on news channels tht he had the offer of extension but he refused? If this is not true, and Zardari/Gilani forced him to retire, why are they now offering him to become FPSC member?

FPSC is the filter that allows people into government.
these people are severely corrupted and controlled by diplomatic enclave.
Thus it is a good idea to put Gen Pasha there to keep his "eye" on affairs.

Before him Gen Kiyani headed the FPSC and he did a damn good job !
