    Default PM to visit Brazil, United Kingdom and Afghanistan



    ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will be undertaking three international visits during next four weeks to highlight Pakistan’s role in global affairs and put across its case before the world community on various counts.

    He will be visiting Afghanistan, United Kingdom and Brazil at different timings. The prime minister has asked the officials concerned to keep his entourage brief just like it was done in the last week concluded visit to the United Kingdom.

    Well placed diplomatic sources told The News here Saturday evening that Prime Minister Gilani has given green signal for all the three trips and he has outrightly discarded the malicious campaign against his visit and number of the members of the entourage for recent trip to the United Kingdom where he attended strategic review of the two countries and inked several important agreements.

    The prime minister is prepared to discuss the outcome of his UK visit in the both houses of the Parliament in immediate next opportunity.

    The visit to Afghanistan will take place on Saturday next (26th May) and it would be confined to one-day. It is expected that Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani will also accompany the prime minister in the visit, as he will have discussions with his counterpart from Isaf and Afghanistan on military affairs. The trip to Afghanistan will have conspicuous significance since it would be taking place immediate after the Chicago summit of Nato countries where Afghan situation dominating in the proceedings. Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who has also gone to Chicago for taking part in the summit, has invited Prime Minister Gilani to undertake the visit, the sources said.

    The sources pointed out that Prime Minister Gilani will be visiting United Kingdom within three weeks of his just concluded visit that has been termed as magnificent success contrary to his adversaries’ efforts.

    Prime Minister Gilani has been invited by his UK counterpart David Cameron and Royalty to grace the Queen’s enthronement celebrations. The prime minister will be leading a small entourage and he will travel by smaller jet for proceeding to London. He has also promised with the political workers and leaders in the United Kingdom to come back next month. He will also address big gathering of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the United Kingdom before returning home, the sources said.

    The prime minister will be guest of honour in the international conference to be held in Rio de Janeiro by Brazilian government and it would be discussing climate and development in semi-arid regions. Prime Minister Gilani will have discussions with the world leaders in the conference on the issues pertaining to the climate changes, their impact on the affected countries and how to overcome adverse impact. The conference will continue for three days and it will be commencing on 19th of the next month. The occasion will provide Prime Minister Gilani an opportunity to discuss some important issues with the Latin American countries which are turning up in the gathering in large number, the sources said.

    hmm so basically he is taking holidays before leaving the office?

    He was in UK couple of days ago why he wants to go back to UK again? I wonder even the minister would be interested to meet him now?

    Yeah I was thinking the same thing!

    But then again when has he done anything logical?

    Kitni baar UK jaiga ye kya pesa transfer ho raha hai?

    How many time will he visit UK? Some one should keep a close eye on PPP'ers.
