Pak-Indonesia Defence Agreement in the offing

Islamabad Mar 11 (app): Indonesian Defence Minister Pumomo Yusgianto endorsed the proposal that the defence forces of the two countries (Pakistan Indonesia) should promote oppertunities for bilateral collaboration for use of indigenously developed weapon systems.He said, during his meeting with Ambassador Sanaullah, who called on him in Jakarta to discuss finalization of proposed Defence Agreement between two countries, said a message received here thursday.

The Ambassador expressed gratilude for inviting Pakistan Defence Minister to Jakarta for signing of the agreement, and to discuss other projects of mutual interest.
There are wide propects for taking joint ventures at public and private level for enhancing bilaterl trade, he added. Earlier,while presenting his letter of credence the Secretary General ASEAN Dr.Surin pitsuwan, Ambassador Sanaullah said, Pakistan will enhance its presence further in ASEAN region and cooperate with the organization with a view of becoming its full partner,full dialogue partnership framework would enable both sides to boost multi sector cooperation,he said.
Ambassador Sanaullah noted that ASEAN has emerged as a big economic voice in the region ,bringing prosperity, investment and respect to its Member States, and in the process, effectively strengthened the global free trade regim.
In welcoming Ambassador Sanaullah’s appointment,Dr Surin expressed his appreciantion for Pakistan’s commitment and good intention to enhance interaction and relations with ASEAN. Since the entery into force of the ASEAN charter,ASEAN has welcomed Ambassadors to ASEAN from non-ASEAN Member States and relavent inter-governmental organizations.

hi,

Good news Indeed, to much is happening these days, specially involving defense sector. But can some buddy provide some details regarding this deal?? what is it specifically about??

The statement, " bilateral collaboration for use of indigenously developed weapon systems " has big meaning associated to it.

Are we having any J.Vs or is the sale of any Big Ticket items??

A little detail will be very helpful. Thanks

They make good infantry weapons.......

Indonesia dont have many tanks or jets neither they need it. But their infantry is good. If you guys remember a blast happend in indonesia and after 2 weeks or so they killed the most dangerous terrorist of indonesia. all this in two weeks. Indonesia have lot of thing we can benefit from.

No doubt about their Infantry capabilities, dear. But to best of my understanding this agreement, as the news says, is not about military trainings and personal exchange programs, but looks like joint venture regarding some particular Defense Article. Thanks

Indonesia also manufactures CN-235 Transport/Passenger versions of Aircrafts nPakistan has bought 4 of them earlier:
