It is good that the JF-17 is attracting interests.

The sales would surely bring good business.

It is reasonable to talk about selling weapons to "brother Muslims". However pragmatism must drive our thinking (and hence decisions).

The problem with "brother" Muslim countries is that with few exceptions they are either dirt poor or tiny or both.

Let's look at the Azer situation. This country has a total budget of only $5billion and the population same as Lahore (or less than half of Karachi). With such pitiful resources and Russian dominance, Azerbaijan is hardly a significant market of latest "Pakistani" weapons.

The only "brother" countries who can afford buying expensive stuff like SA, UAE etc. are already working with USA. The rest such as Iran have a big target sign painted on their forehead.

Our way towards technology acquisition and high-tech trade is simply the same that has been successfully used by Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and recently by China and India. They all work 24 hours to fill the WalMarts and ToysRus, and Microsofts of the USA, and in the process improve their industry. The same industry then has enough money and expertise to improve their defensive capabilities.

It is time to get out of the group of technologically blind "brother Muslim countries" as it will keep us "Andhon main kana raja" (in the land of blind, the one-eyed man is the king).

It is time to join the countries (at every cost) who have true technological advantage and learn from the countries such as Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, and China.

p.s. My apologies to anyone who may feel slighted with the words in this post.
