I am suprised that a ''enlightened'' person such as your self didn't object the hyporicy of false pictures... The guy posted a news paper about donations to camiis as ''Mustafa Kemal sold our camiis''... Yep... very honest and very moral of you.

Dude... you are proven troll with false propaganda posts... Please don't embarrase yourself any longer...
Look Deno, if you wan't to critisize your past you must look from both sides. People in Turkey are religious compared to Europe, hence religious practice (friday prayer etc) is a vital part of their life. Therefore, mosques are built by private companies, or persons, it is not an expense from the state. But the thousands of tons of material and manpower to make all those statues and sculptures of Ataturk is a big waste. Why try to constantly build his statue all around the country? To what purpose does it serve? Ataturkism or Kemalism is not a religion, we don't need constant reminder of him wherever you travel in the country. I personally find it extremely disturbing that every school book has to have his cover, every school room his picture, every school several of his statues. Why is it that we in Turkey have to credit the whole creation of the republic to a single man and forget all those people dying for the countries sake in conflicts etc. If Turkey wants to be a modern and free society, it needs to get over the indoctrination. We are belittling ourselves by constantly crediting every single development to this person. You can't find such a mentality anywhere in the West, whom you look up to. Turkey is still partly an Orwellian society.
Edit: And if you truly care about education, you should start opening your eyes to how extreme Ataturkism corrupts our young generation. It is beyond fanaticism. Instead of obsessing ourselves with a single man (like North Korea) we should do something creative and new and start looking at the future. Any man today can and are more succesfull than him, why try to illustrate as if he is the perfect being? People with a natural brain process would figure this out in seconds, instead of getting stucked in a single state of mind for decades. Get over the obsession already please.
