Sri Lanka Ministry of Transport is planning to deploy a service of articulated buses in the capital city, Colombo.
The bus service is expected to ply in a distance of 15 kilometers in the city on busy roads where a tram service was operated from 1900 to 1960s.
The Ministry has planned to import an articulated bus at a cost of $ 400,000 to be deployed as a pilot project.
The Minister has recently amended the archaic laws that defined the length of vehicles and now the roads can accommodate vehicles up to 24 meters in length and 2.6 meters in width.
The Ministry operates high end bus services now aiming to take the public transport system of the country to a new standard.
