According to the HDI, 60.3% of Pakistan's population lives on under $2 a day, compared to 75.6% in nearby India and 81.3% in nearby Bangladesh,[8] and some 22.6% live under $1 a day, compared to 41.6% in India and 49.6% in Bangladesh[9]

Well it is a banned topic in this forum but
[B]Guardian is one of the most reliable newspaper in UK and since the figures are mentioned in the United Nations report and not by independent organisation of Pakistan or India it is serious matter of concern.
This part of the news is a shocker to me since our media is always busy showing the bad side of Pakistan only unlike Indian India that is doing a great job for the public
The report also finds more 'gender equality' in conservative Pakistan than in 'tolerant' India.
