The problem is the LOC does not extend across the Siachen glacier. Our British masters thought we would be foolish to fight over a useless glacier so they did not bother drawing the line. LoC issue caters to the positions across Kashmir and not further up north.

Why are you complicating the things? What you hold is yours and what I hold is mine! As simple as that!

Well this goes both ways. We trusted that India would not move troops to Siachen, but using your argument, we too were cheated due to the IA deployment first. Time to move on beyond absolutist positions.

It is NOT Pakistan was never interested at all in the region! Pakistan was making the move too, But it is India which was first to reach there!

Leaving positions from Siachen will be another drawback for Pakistan. That's all BS spoken by Nawas and military leaders. India sitting across LOC not to defend LOC but looking for more. Well, suppose both countries will reach on an agreement to call forces on 84's position so what is guaranty that India will not invade in future with support of next possible radical and conservative government?

What is the guaranty that India will not attack with full force to get whole Siachen area? We can't trust India for even 1 mm of Land. Moreover all this talking about diverting finance from Siachen and spending money on people is utter nonsense to make people more stupid; why because everybody know that this money as usual will bypass people and fell into pockets of generals or politicians rather than buying useful technology to defend country or start public welfare programs respectively.. Good focus indeed.

You like it or not, You believe or not, India controls all of Siachen mountain tops, Pakistan not even within 5 KM from Siachen!

Yesterday I heard some Army general on a talk show and he raised following points

Suppose some arrangement is worked out, what will be the guarantee that Pakistan will honor that arrangement and some future rogue Pakistani establishment will not try some misadventure?

How can we forget Kargil, when we were back-stabbed and they crossed LOC and if Pakistan occupies Siachen it will become very very difficult to re-capture it

They run terrorist training camps and plot each day to attack and kill Indian forces and civilians in Srinagar, forget about Siachin

Planners and executors of 26/11 and brigade are state guests in Pakistan and you want to trust them

Things have drastically improved in Siachen, we just loose 1-2 Jawan per year now and the amount spend (a crore a day) is peanuts for India

Pakistan doesn't have anything to offer here, we hold the heights so there can be no give-and-take

So why give away the advantage that we have???

Basically we have zero issues with Pakistan,Not territorial claims,no water claims,nothing.

We should focus on things that are relevant to us.

If pakistan wants something,they shud come to us.Thats all.

Sadly, there is - and was - nothing strategic about it. It was an extension of the territorial dispute over Kashmir, and a dispute over the line of actual control. There is a useful brief note on the subject for those who are interested.

We will never stop fighting... Just make the LoC the intl. border and split Siachen between us, so both countries can hold mountaineering expeditions.
