Sure china is clever than others. You know why? Because it figured out that it has the dumbest citizens, hence they censor thoughts, opinions, text that has diverse content. Why else would they keep the citizens censored from it? It's like parents that keep certain content away from their kids, they are too immature to understand it.

Well for one thing, China has been a consistent topper in IMO and IPhO over the past decade. India is simply nowhere in that league. We have focused too much on our JEEs to abandon our pursuit in preparing for IMO. Heck, many BTechs entering IITB are blissfully unaware of what effort goes on in IMO (its crazier than prepping for the JEE). Same goes for the ACM-ICPC. Unfortunately, our skills in problem solving has degraded as of late and we keep plucking the low-hanging fruits wherever available in this country. Motivated, guided and pushed rightly, we can work wonders. I believe that we do have that potential provided we focus in the right direction.

That's a bullshit statement ; People commit suicide by jumping off scrapers, so do we ban them ? Every individual has the potential to bring out the best in him. Competition in many ways is healthy. Its a universal paradigm that adheres to the natural selection process (survival of the fittest). Peer pressure tends to bring out the best out of individuals that should be focused upon instead of blaming suicide rates upon them. In a vastly populated country such as India, it becomes necessary that we showcase the best of our talent. The statement that this is at the cost of a student's life is pure humbug.

China has a long way to go in terms of leading the scientific and technological forefront while still being stuck at microcosmic innovations. Well Skycrappers don't cause the suicide in the first place, but the mindless rush for grades does.

Anyways my honest opinion is that there should be some sort of test to find out ones' aptitude in the middle school and then nourish him towards that goal. I don't find the logic in pushing a student towards medicine by over ambitious parents when he wants to go to art school.

that is pretty much another stereotype which is most popular among indians. the h-index is only one way indicating the quality of papers based on the no of citations. Citations do not reflect absolute quality of a paper. Many of the citations are done due to peer factors. G-L's research is widely quoted and reviewed. What "horsehit" is that if you value so much about h-index?

Not only Godson-Loongson's race and iq research has embarrassed indians, there are other indicators which also show that indians are lackluster intellectual performers than Chinese. Tests/Exams are one of the best way of testing the intelligence quality of people. indians lose out to us miserably most of the time!
