An international manhunt for a Canadian suspect intensified today as authorities identified the victim of a gruesome killing and dismemberment as Jun Lin, a Chinese student who was studying in Montreal.

Montreal police have confirmed Lin, 33, was killed about a week ago.

Authorities believe he was in a relationship with Luka Rocco Magnotta, a self-styled porn star who fled Canada last weekend, and is now wanted for first-degree murder and carrying out an indignity to a human body.

Montreal authorities believe Magnotta killed Lin and videotaped a sequence of repeated stabbing and dismemberment, before mailing body parts to political parties in Ottawa.

Magnotta flew out of Montreal's Trudeau airport on May 26, and may be in France, although Montreal authorities said he "may have returned under another identity," according to Cmdr. Ian Lafrenière.

Police have received more than 200 tips since Tuesday, and while "the investigation has been going fast," Lafrenière stressed that "it's not a CSI episode."

"I know we would love in one hour to get everything resolved and someone in custody. But having the motive, having why he committed that, we’re not up to that yet."

Lin reported missing Tuesday

The Chinese consulate in Montreal said Jun Lin was from the city of Wuhan, in central China, and arrived in Montreal in July 2011 to study.

According to people who knew him in Montreal, Lin used Justin as a given name, and Patrick on his Facebook profile.

He was registered as an undergraduate student in engineering and computer science at Concordia University.

Lin had moved into a new Griffintown-area apartment with a roommate, on May 1.

He kept to himself and acted as any "nice guy" would, according to his superintendent, Fred Hedriana, who said "he looked like a gentleman."

His neighbour Tyson James told CBC that Lin played his music "pretty loud," but that, "It hasn't been happening in the last few days."

Lin was last seen by friends on May 24 and according to police was killed on May 24 or 25.

Consulate officials said a friend of Lin's contacted them on May 29 to say he was missing.

That was the day two packages containing human remains were discovered in Ottawa, and a suitcase stuffed with a torso was found in a pile of garbage behind a Montreal apartment building.

Chinese authorities in Montreal told CBC News they contacted police immediately.

Lin's death has profoundly disturbed Concordia's large Chinese student population, according to several reports.

Concordia University president Frederick Lowy issued a statement on Friday, expressing his condolences to Lin's family and friends. The school said it is offering counselling to staff, faculty and students.

A senior French police official said Friday he is "sure" that Magnotta is currently in France.

France's fugitive search unit had been ordered to hunt for Magnotta, according to several reports.

Interpol aids in search

Interpol posted a picture and information on Montreal resident Magnotta on its website Thursday among a group of many international suspects wanted for crimes including homicide, kidnapping and organized crime.

Interpol's involvement came after Montreal police issued a worldwide warrant for first-degree murder.

Clues at the Montreal crime scene led police to expand their search abroad, police said on Wednesday.

"We found some evidence," said Lafrenière. "We found, also, a letter that was posted on a website making us believe he might be gone out of the country."

He said they were working with airport officials in Montreal as well, but wouldn't disclose any information they had provided.

"There is no country in the world that is not talking about him," Lafrenière said. "There’s a lot of heat on him. There’s a lot of pressure on him, so we believe that it’s going to be hard for him.”

geez who is this guy not connected too? he apparently connected to other serial killers, russian mafia etc etc he is obviously a very evil person...

also.. canada is not an UNSAFE place for chinese to live, so what some other chinese have been hurt?? i bet more canadians get hurt then chinese... also, china has the worlds biggest populace... i bet china is the worlds unsafest place.. since you have more people, obviously more people get hurt in china... so china is not a safe place?



unrelated to my previous post.... this news story failed to mention, in the video after he stabs the guy to death with an ice pick, then he cuts his body parts off... then he proceeded to have sex with him...

this guy is a very sick puppy and needs to be locked up asap

A May 27, 2011 post on Stormfront.org refers to Mr. Magnotta as “an open white supremacist” and claims he was being forced to flee Canada and return to Russia because of “his views on white supremacy.”

The post, by a forum member named reddragon1, said Magnotta “is of Russian/Italian heritage,” was born in Tolyatti, Russia, moved to Canada at age five and went to the United States to work in modeling and adult entertainment.

“However, after he published his website supporting the freeze on immigration to America and Canada, he was bombarded with hate mail and his website was removed,” the post read. “His websites were frequently targeted and removed.”

It quoted Mr. Magnotta’s website as lamenting that “blacks get their own countries, Chinese get their own countries … however if white people want their own countries then we are denied that right.”

A second and final post by reddragon1 the following day made derogatory comments about Jews. Stormfront is run by former Ku Klux Klan leader Don Black.

The blog Anti-Racist Canada, which found the Stormfront posts, reported Thursday that it would be sending them “to the appropriate authorities” and said it suspected reddragon1 to be Mr. Magnotta himself.

Mr. Magnotta appeared again on Stormfront in September, when a member wrote that “Luka Magnotta, he wrote a lot of very interesting articles on multiculturalism. I for one am extremely happy that he is courageous enough to write the things he does, knowing full well he will receive death threats. … He says he is not advocating killing different races, he simply does not want to communicate, work or associate with different races.”

Abbee Corb, an analyst with the Hate Crimes Extremism and Investigative Team, which advises police services in Ontario, said Stormfront “has become a social networking site and prominent voice in the right-wing white supremacist community.

“Prominent Canadian right winger Paul Fromm, hosts his radio show on the Stormfront network. Stormfront has a great deal of Canadian and international content. Its users can post and create content promoting events, recruiting and providing commentary on global events.”

what i said was critical of the post about how it is unsafe in canada because 2 chinese have been killed there.... and in response i said, it is not unsafe in canada.... MORE CANADIANS DIE IN CANADA!!! of that type of thing too... and i am also saying, since you think canada is unsafe, due to 2 deaths... china must be hell...since a lot more chinese die in china because of murder, then they do anywhere else in the world.

now , if it happens to asians every day just because they are asian... i might actually agree with you... but so far, its been few, and there is absolutely no evidence that race was a factor at all.

and for those 2 asians, i bet there is 1000 white canadians murdered.... i guess that means its more of a trend against white people then?
