    Please elaborate!
Without a treaty China has free hand to even drain the river if she wants!
This would be disasterous for Assam and BD.

Thats exactly what we want.Let China build a dam thus affecting million and millions leaving in NE and Bangladesh.

B'desh has been moving againt india and China has claimed certain parts of NE.This would help in changing the tide.

We can definitly sneak through it.Imaghibne if we block water during the cultivation time what will happen?
Pak wil go to ICJ and that will take months to reach a conclusion and by then the cultivation season would be over.

Lets see how things develop, and how diplomats of both the nations correspond.

There's not much India can do if China decides to build a dam to generate electricity and to store some of the water source. But for diverting the water there might be room for negotiations.

yes, that is the saddest part.Though i hope the govt comes up with a good plan to tackle these things. The govt is trying to settle the border disputes with PRC, they are not serious enough, if this gets resolved, then there otta be not much fo a problem.

We ar'nt alone, the whole of east asia is in danger of sufferring due to Chinese dams. Read up on the dams on the Mekong river. The Mekong helps irrigate about 4 countries excluding China, i.e Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Those are small nations, and may suffer, but we will not take it quietly.

It's a good thing and will always remain as a Sino-Pakistani blackmail. If India during wartimes threatens to dry up the Indus, we'd dry dry up the Indus, Sutlej and the BrahmaPutra, all that flow from Tibet.

I wonder if all of Indus can be bypassed? It'll take Billions, no doubt... Something to look forward for in the future. We've built huge networks of canals before, going a tad bit bigger, should be an interesting concept we should look out for.

Hmmm You think Tibet would ever be a bigger issue than Taiwan? China can give a snub to the US over Taiwan, what's Tibet!

Of course nothing's happening right off the bat. It's our job to pop new ideas out there.

In case of an India-Pak war, China will not intervene. It wont allow rivers to be blocked in its teritorry. It can only provide munitions that too covertly to Pakistan. It wont risk open hostilities with India.

If Pakistan goes to war with India, Pakistan will face the consequences alone with no aid from anyone. If you or any one else is harbouring any misconception about this, make sure its clear. No third country in the world will interfere in an India-Pak war. At the most statements will be made to desist and other BS that is always stated.
